Netflix has officially announced that a documentary series about former WWE owner Vince McMahon will be available for streaming starting September 25th, 2024. The series will feature six one-hour episodes. In anticipation of the release, McMahon's official Twitter/X account shared a statement addressing the upcoming series.
During his podcast, AEW star Jeff Jarrett offered his thoughts on McMahonās statement and the timing of the series' release. Jarrett remarked:
āOkay, that last line, āI hope the viewer will keep an open mind and remember that there are two sides to every story.ā Well, Connie, Iām going to kind of contradict that statement. I think thereās always three sides. What is fascinating about all of this is the timing of it. Now, itās being released on a Wednesday. Does Netflix usually release new episodes on Wednesdays? Iām not the biggest Netflix watcher. Itās interesting that theyāre releasing it on a Wednesday. The timing of it is very, very interesting.ā
Jarrett also discussed McMahonās legacy, emphasizing his control over WWEās narrative during his time as its head but acknowledging that McMahon now faces a different challenge. Jarrett added:
āThe history that I know personally, you know personally, the world really knows: He never takes anything lying down at all. Yes, he controlled the narrative when he ran the organization [WWE], but now he obviously doesnāt. He understands as well as anybody. Netflixās number one goal, and I donāt want to say [thereās] only one goal, but the number one goal is to get as many streams as possible. Whatās WWEās goal at this current time? Where do they sit on it? Well, we know Vince obviously wants to ā I donāt want to say protect his name, but to tell his side of the story.ā
Reflecting on McMahonās statement, Jarrett pointed out that Vince is still fighting to shape the narrative around his life and career. He concluded:
āWell, itās like he said: thereās two sides to every story; Iām going to say thereās three sides. Thereās Vinceās version, Netflixās version, and then somewhere out there, thereās going to be the truth, maybe even lost in it all. But like you said, I think it goes without saying, him posting today is a definite sign that heās just not going to let this ā heās getting out in front of it. Heās punching back, and this is certainly not the first, and it wonāt be the last.ā
