Former WWWF Tag Team Champion Rene Goulet Dead Aged 86

Former WWWF wrestler and road agent Rene Goulet has been confirmed dead at the age of 86. 

Goulet, who broke into the wrestling business in the 1950s, sadly passed in May this year, according to the report by the Cauliflower Alley Club, but his death was not public knowledge until today.

Working his way through the territories, Goulet was a success wherever he went, including the AWA, where he was the first man to defeat a rookie Ric Flair. 

Later joining the WWWF, Goulet would capture the company's Tag Team Championships with Karl Gotch, and would even be in the first-ever WWWF match on the USA Network, when he faced Tito Santana. 

In March 1974, Goulet's star power would transcend the wrestling world, as he was the subject of a full-page photo in the third issue of People Magazine, which saw Goulet in a bear hug by Chris Taylor. 

Retiring from the ring in 1986, Goulet would remain a large part of the WWF family, transitioning into a role as a road agent for nearly a decade, before leaving in 1997. 

At this time, the cause of Goulet's death is not publicly known, though we hear at Wrestling News Source would like to send our deepest condolences to Goulet's family and loved ones at this tragic time.
