WWE announced on Friday that they have released longtime WWE Superstars Alex Riley and Hornswoggle.

WWE issued the following on their website:

"WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstars Hornswoggle and Alex Riley as of Friday, May 6, 2015. WWE wishes them the best in all of his future endeavors."

Riley had been with WWE since 2007 and was called up to the main roster in 2010 to be paired with The Miz. In recent times he worked as a WWE announcer and wrestler on NXT.

Hornswoggle was with the company since 2006 winning and becoming the very last WWE Cruiserweight Champion after it was retired in 2007. He was also revealed as Mr. McMahon's illegitimate Son during a WWE storyline.
