F4WOnline.com reports that WWE originally "planted the seeds" for the banning of Sheamus's patented Brogue Kick finishing maneuver when the current World Heavyweight Champion won his match on Monday night's edition of RAW with the Texas Cloverleaf submission hold. SmackDown General Manager Booker T then announced on Friday night's edition of SmackDown that the Brogue Kick has been banned, which is leading to speculation that Sheamus may retain his title against Alberto Del Rio at the upcoming Night of Champions pay-per-view event by using the Texas Cloverleaf, though this has not been officially confirmed in any way.

The banning of the Brogue Kick is also set to only last temporarily, though there is no word yet as to when this storyline will end.
