As previously reported, Terry Taylor recently announced that he would be stepping down from his position as Director of Talent Relations in TNA.
However, The Wrestling Observer is now reporting that Taylor was actually fired from the organization effective May 20th due to accusations that were made against him by ex-performer Shannon Spruill, better known as "Daffney." Taylor's name was mentioned in a lawsuit that Spruill originally filed against TNA some time ago, which alleges that he failed to have the company cover her medical expenses on two separate occasions, as well as pressuring her into continuing to compete despite suffering two separate concussions.
The first incident involved Taylor and Vince Russo pressuring Spruill to take part in an angle at Bound For Glory 2009, in which you will recall she was chokeslammed through a barbed wire-covered board. Taylor and Russo explained that this would be done in order to continue to draw interest in the then-feud between Mick Foley and Abyss. Spruill was repeatedly assured by Taylor and Russo that she would be "fine and taken care of" should she sustain any serious injuries. After taking part in the angle, Spruill suffered a concussion and was rushed to the hospital. Spike TV refused to allow TNA to air the angle due to their policy forbidding male-on-female violence.
Spruill's medical bill came to a substantial amount, which resulted in Taylor keeping TNA from paying it, which it never was.
Spruill then suffered yet another concussion after taking part in a segment in which she was hit in the head with a toolbox by Tara after their match on the 2/18/10 episode of Impact Wrestling. Furthermore, during a dark match before the taping of the 4/20/10 edition of Impact Wrestling, Spruill was injured during a match against "green" obese worker Miss Betsy. Following the match, Spruill was rushed to the hospital and was again diagnosed with another concussion, as well as a severe stinger and a deeply bruised sternum.
Since Taylor's firing, his duties have been taken over by TNA CFO Dean Broadhead (who is handling and overseeing contractual matters involving talent) and ex-WWE employee Bruch Prichard (who will handle the remainder of Taylor's duties).
