WWE appears ready to inject some fresh energy into its tag team divisions across both RAW and SmackDown, with several new pairings reportedly set to receive increased attention.
The latest development follows Shinsuke Nakamura reacting to Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships. In a video shared through WWE’s social media channels, Nakamura addressed the title change while also teasing that he has a new tag team partner on the way.
While WWE has yet to officially reveal Nakamura's mystery partner, reports have pointed towards former NJPW star Hiromu Takahashi potentially filling the role.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, the angle is part of a wider effort to give WWE's tag team scene a "refresh" across both brands.
On SmackDown, Nakamura and Takahashi are reportedly expected to be positioned as significant challengers within the division. Fraxiom, the team of Nathan Frazer and Axiom, could also benefit from the renewed focus, with the duo expected to receive increased television exposure moving forward.
Changes are reportedly being considered on RAW as well. Ethan Page and Rusev are believed to be a pairing WWE intends to establish more prominently within the brand's tag team picture.
Meanwhile, Julius and Brutus Creed have recently been competing on WWE Main Event. Despite their established partnership, the Creed Brothers have reportedly not been discussed internally as potential challengers for The Vision at this stage.
With new combinations beginning to emerge and established teams potentially receiving more television time, WWE's tag team landscape could look considerably different over the coming weeks.
