A rumor circulating online regarding Ilja Dragunov’s WWE contract has been dismissed as completely false, with no legitimate indication that there are any contractual problems between the former NXT Champion and the company.
The speculation originated from the @MaverickTDM account, which claimed there was an issue surrounding Dragunov’s WWE deal. However, the information was not backed by any credible sourcing, and the account later attempted to characterize the original claim as an “opinion.”
The problem is that the initial post was presented as a factual update rather than speculation, leading to the claim spreading across social media despite there being no evidence to support it.
Dragunov’s WWE status has already attracted plenty of attention due to his extended absence from television. In July, reports suggested that his return to WWE programming was expected “sooner rather than later,” indicating that the company still had plans for him.
Dragunov has also reportedly spent time training at the famous Hart Dungeon in Canada during his absence. There has been no credible indication that an injury is responsible for keeping him away from WWE television.
As things currently stand, there is no reliable reporting suggesting Dragunov’s WWE contract is expiring, in jeopardy, or the subject of any backstage dispute.
The contract rumor appears to have been fabricated from the outset and should not be viewed as an explanation for Dragunov’s continued absence.
Attention now turns to when WWE will finally bring The Mad Dragon back to television, particularly with fans continuing to await his return after several months away from programming.
