AEW Grand Slam Mexico appears to have been a major financial success for the company, with new figures suggesting the event produced one of AEW's strongest television gates to date.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the show at the historic Arena México generated a live gate comfortably exceeding $600,000.

According to Meltzer, that figure puts Grand Slam Mexico among the highest-grossing television tapings in AEW history. The event was also a sellout, with paid attendance approaching 13,000 fans.

Meltzer wrote:

“The live gate at Grand Slam Mexico was well over $600,000 which would make it among the largest for a television taping in company history. WWE with its higher ticker prices routinely beats that number and will for the shows n its tour in September. But for AEW, that’s a great number. It was a sellout and the paid attendance closed in on 13,000 which indicates once again the legitimacy of the 13,200 number at Arena Mexico vs. 16,448 which is the official government listed attendance for the building.”

The turnout adds another positive statistic to AEW's latest trip to Mexico, with Arena México providing a packed setting for the Grand Slam special.

The 2026 edition of AEW Grand Slam Mexico was topped by Will Ospreay and Mark Davis battling in a Mexico City Street Fight, with nobody permitted at ringside.

Meltzer awarded the encounter 4.75 stars, making it one of his two highest-rated matches from the AEW event. Kyle Fletcher vs. Mike Bailey also received 4.75 stars.

Despite the strong ratings for AEW's card, neither match claimed Meltzer's highest rating from wrestling in Mexico that week.

That distinction went to CMLL's 22-man World Grand Prix on August 7, which received five stars. The lengthy contest lasted approximately 74 minutes and ended with Hechicero securing victory for Team CMLL/Mexico after eliminating PAC and Claudio Castagnoli.

With a sellout crowd, close to 13,000 paid attendees and a gate exceeding $600,000, Grand Slam Mexico looks to have delivered an impressive result for AEW both inside the ring and at the box office.
