Roman Reigns could have a familiar challenger waiting for him at WWE Money in the Bank later this year.
According to WrestleVotes via Fightful Select, there is a “strong sense internally” within WWE that LA Knight is being lined up to challenge Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the October 10 premium live event in New Orleans.
While WWE has yet to officially announce the match, the potential showdown would renew a rivalry that dates back nearly three years.
Reigns and Knight have only faced each other once in singles competition. That encounter came at WWE Crown Jewel on November 4, 2023, when Knight challenged Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Reigns ultimately retained after interference from Bloodline members Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso played a role in the outcome.
Knight received another opportunity to dethrone Reigns at the 2024 Royal Rumble. This time, he was part of a Fatal 4-Way match alongside AJ Styles and Randy Orton, but Reigns once again emerged with his championship intact.
Recent WWE television may now be laying some of the groundwork for Knight to cross paths with The Bloodline once again.
On this week's episode of Raw, Knight was featured in a backstage segment involving Jacob Fatu. With Fatu's Bloodline connections and reports now pointing towards a possible championship match with Reigns, the interaction could take on greater significance as Money in the Bank approaches.
If WWE moves forward with the planned match, Knight would finally receive another one-on-one opportunity against Reigns almost three years after their first singles championship encounter.
Money in the Bank is scheduled to take place on October 10 in New Orleans.
