WWE has crowned new World Tag Team Champions.
The MFTs, Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, captured the WWE World Tag Team Championship during Friday night's episode of WWE SmackDown, defeating reigning champions Damian Priest and R-Truth and The War Raiders in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match.
The match, which lasted nearly 10 minutes, began with all three teams immediately throwing down in a chaotic brawl. The champions eventually found themselves in trouble as R-Truth was isolated by the opposition.
Priest ultimately received the hot tag and shifted the momentum in favor of the champions. The former World Champion cleaned house, taking the fight to The War Raiders before the Raiders eventually regained control.
The closing moments saw Priest taken out of the equation after The War Raiders hit him with Thor's Hammer through the barricade at ringside.
With Priest unable to intervene, R-Truth was left alone inside the ring with Tama and Talla Tonga.
The MFTs took full advantage of the situation.
Tama and Talla connected with their devastating double powerbomb, planting Truth in the center of the ring and scoring the decisive pinfall.
Winners and NEW WWE World Tag Team Champions: The MFTs
The championship victory marks the third WWE Tag Team Championship reign for Tama Tonga. He previously held the titles twice, including reigns as part of The Bloodline and alongside Solo Sikoa.
For Talla Tonga, the victory represents the first championship reign of his WWE career.
Meanwhile, Priest and R-Truth's reign comes to an end after 147 days.
Priest and Truth originally captured the championships on the March 20 episode of SmackDown, defeating Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga to begin their reign.
The MFTs now sit atop the WWE tag team division, while Priest and Truth will have to regroup following a lengthy championship run.
The question now is whether anyone can stop Tama and Talla Tonga from establishing themselves as WWE's next dominant tag team.
