The field has been narrowed to four as NJPW prepares for a huge weekend in Tokyo to decide the winner of the G1 Climax 36.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has confirmed the complete lineup for Saturday, August 15, at Sumo Hall, where two semifinal matches will determine who moves on to Sunday's tournament final.

Yota Tsuji will meet Yuya Uemura in one semifinal, while Callum Newman battles Ryohei Oiwa in the other. All four wrestlers ended the block stage on 12 points following highly competitive campaigns.

Tsuji finished at the top of A Block, with Oiwa securing second place. Over in B Block, Newman claimed first place ahead of Uemura to complete the tournament's final four.

The eventual G1 Climax 36 winner will earn a major opportunity involving the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. There is an added wrinkle this year with Tsuji currently holding the championship himself. Should the champion also capture the G1, he would seemingly be in position to select a future challenger, potentially for Wrestle Kingdom.

Despite the importance of the two semifinals, neither will close Saturday's show.

That honour has been reserved for Hiroyoshi Tenzan, who will bring his legendary career to an end against longtime tag team partner Satoshi Kojima. The two veterans will meet in a special five-minute exhibition before the evening concludes with a retirement celebration for Tenzan.

AEW will also have representation on the card. Wheeler Yuta joins fellow Death Riders member Gabe Kidd to face Drilla Moloney and Daiki Nagai in tag team competition.

The August 15 event begins at 2 a.m. ET and will stream live through NJPW World, with English commentary available.
