Ryback Says He No Longer Has Any Bad Blood With CM Punk

Ryback Says He No Longer Has Any Bad Blood With CM Punk

Former WWE star Ryback says he has finally moved on from his long-running issues with CM Punk, making it clear that he no longer carries any bad blood toward the current WWE star.

The history between the pair stretches back more than a decade. In 2014, following his departure from WWE, Punk spoke critically about working with Ryback during his now-infamous appearance on Colt Cabana's podcast. Among his complaints, Punk accused Ryback of being unsafe in the ring, comments which sparked years of public back-and-forth between the two.

Despite everything that has been said since, Ryback now appears ready to leave the situation firmly in the past.

Posting a video on X, Ryback explained that continuing to carry anger over events from years ago serves no purpose. While he stressed that this does not mean he and Punk are suddenly going to become friends, he said he no longer has any interest in holding onto resentment.

Ryback Moves On From CM Punk Feud
“With CM Punk, is there any bad blood? No, I don’t hold on to any hate with that anymore. I’ve said what I needed to say on it. He said what he said on it. And it doesn’t make sense to hold on to that forever. Now, that doesn’t mean we’ll ever be friends. It doesn’t mean we’ll ever work together,” Ryback said.

Ryback went on to explain that repeatedly revisiting the controversy would only keep him tied to something he considers finished.

“It just means that it doesn’t serve me to hold on to that hate with any of that, and that anger or whatever. And yeah, I’ve told the truth all from the beginning on it. A lot of people love and support me on it. It doesn’t matter what people think. It’s all over with. People will rehash the past over and over. It doesn’t serve me to keep rehashing something that doesn’t serve me or benefit me,” Ryback continued.

Perhaps more surprisingly, Ryback also had some positive words for Punk. He said he is pleased to see his former rival enjoying success again and complimented Punk on his physical condition.

“I’m happy for him on everything. I’m happy he’s back with it. I’ve learned in life it’s better just to be happy for people. Or stay neutral on it. Because that controls your feelings. You’re choosing to get angry over something, right? That doesn’t even… So why am I… I’m happy for him. I’m happy everything’s cool. And I think he looks great. I’m happy for him that he’s gotten in better shape. And whatever he’s doing is working,” Ryback concluded.

For now, Ryback's comments seemingly close the door on one of the more persistent personal disputes to emerge from Punk's original WWE departure. They may never be friends, but Ryback appears content to leave their differences where they belong, in the past.
