Jim Ross has received some encouraging news following a recent health procedure.
During an episode of Grilling JR in July 2026, the legendary wrestling commentator revealed that he was preparing to undergo brain surgery to help manage excess fluid. Ross explained what the procedure would involve while thanking fans for the support he had received.
“Thanks for the outpouring of support regarding my upcoming brain surgery. A hole will be drilled in my skull and a small tube will be inserted reachinto my stomach to better manage/drain excess brain fluid. I’m optimistic. Thanks to all.”
There was a positive update on Wednesday, with Ross’ Grilling JR co-host Conrad Thompson confirming that the procedure had been completed successfully.
“Happy to report that our pal Jim Ross had a successful procedure this morning! I heard from his lovely daughter this morning that everything went well and good ole JR is expected to be back home by Friday!
Please keep JR in your prayers as we hope for a speedy recovery!”
The update will come as welcome news to wrestling fans who have been sending their well wishes to the WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator since he first disclosed that surgery was ahead.
Ross is now expected to return home by Friday as he begins his recovery following the successful procedure.
