WWE NXT has started filling out the card for next week, with a four-way match to determine a future challenger for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship among the matches announced.
During Tuesday’s NXT, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio got in touch with Robert Stone to discuss finding the next challenger for AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix.
The conversation resulted in a Fatal Four-Way number one contender’s match being booked for the August 18 edition of NXT. Mysterio and Stone put forward EK Prosper and La Parka as potential participants, before Romeo Moreno and Tristan Angels later made their intentions clear and completed the field.
Prosper, La Parka, Moreno and Angels will now battle for the opportunity to challenge Fenix for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship on August 25.
There will also be major Heatwave implications when Jackson Drake goes one-on-one with Shiloh Hill.
The stipulation gives Drake and the rest of Vanity Project plenty to fight for. A Drake victory will earn him a North American Championship opportunity at Heatwave, while Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor will receive an NXT Tag Team Championship match.
That scenario could leave Myles Borne facing the possibility of competing twice at Heatwave. However, the stakes work both ways, as a defeat for Drake would leave Vanity Project without a place on the Heatwave card.
Elsewhere, Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair will team together against Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong. The match was put together following a confrontation involving all four women on Tuesday’s show.
Championship gold will also be defended as Lexis King puts the Men’s Speed Championship on the line against OTM’s Lucien Price.
