The tension between Oba Femi and Bron Breakker continues to build, with WWE once again teasing a collision between two of the company's most dominant rising stars on Monday Night RAW.

During the August 10 edition of WWE RAW, Breakker and Femi found themselves on the verge of another physical confrontation. Although WWE officials prevented the situation from escalating, the latest encounter added another layer to a rivalry that appears to be gathering momentum.

There is also a new wrinkle to the story following Brock Lesnar's recent endorsement of Femi. After sharing the ring with The Ruler at SummerSlam, Lesnar described Femi as the future of WWE, something Breakker clearly appears to have taken notice of.

The subject came up during a backstage interview involving The Vision and Byron Saxton on RAW.

Breakker questioned Saxton about Femi and specifically asked whether he believed the former NXT standout was genuinely WWE's future.

Saxton responded by pointing out that Brock Lesnar had already given Femi that distinction. Breakker was far from impressed with the response.

“You sound just like Paul Heyman,” Breakker told Saxton before walking away.

The Heyman reference adds an interesting dimension to Breakker's reaction. Heyman famously spent years associated with Lesnar throughout The Beast's WWE career, while Breakker has developed his own complicated history with the veteran manager through his involvement with The Vision.

Later in the show, WWE brought the rivalry back into focus following Austin Theory's victory over Akira Tozawa.

Theory continued his attack on Tozawa after the bell, forcing RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and several officials to intervene. Breakker then made his way into the ring and appeared ready to deliver a Spear to Tozawa.

Before Breakker could strike, Oba Femi's entrance music hit.

Theory attempted to meet Femi head-on, charging toward The Ruler before being immediately dropped with a powerful boot.

Femi then turned his attention toward Breakker.

After approaching the ring, Femi climbed onto the apron and removed his necklace, appearing prepared to finally trade blows with Breakker. Officials quickly positioned themselves between the two powerhouses before either man could make the first move, while Logan Paul also became involved in keeping Breakker restrained.

For the second time in a matter of weeks, WWE stopped just short of allowing Breakker and Femi to get their hands on each other.

Their issues, however, stretch back considerably further.

During the Royal Rumble earlier this year, Femi eliminated Breakker shortly after Breakker entered the match, creating an early connection between two performers WWE has positioned prominently as part of its next generation.

With Lesnar now publicly identifying Femi as WWE's future and Breakker seemingly taking exception to that description, the company continues to provide reasons for the two men to collide.

At this stage, the question may no longer be whether Oba Femi and Bron Breakker will meet one-on-one, but how long WWE intends to make fans wait before finally allowing the two powerhouses to settle their differences inside the ring.
