WWE Reportedly Considered Two-Night Royal Rumble For 2027

WWE Reportedly Considered Two-Night Royal Rumble For 2027

WWE has officially confirmed that the 2027 Royal Rumble will head to Glendale, Arizona, with State Farm Stadium hosting one of the company’s biggest events of the year.

While the venue is now locked in, WWE reportedly held serious discussions about making a much bigger change to the Royal Rumble format.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, the possibility of expanding the event across two nights was given genuine consideration. There were reportedly people within WWE who believed 2027 could be the year the company finally moved the Rumble away from its traditional single-night presentation.

That change is now not expected to happen in Glendale. The current belief is that WWE will stick with a one-night Royal Rumble in 2027, although it could potentially be the final year the event is presented that way.

There is said to be considerable interest behind the scenes in eventually turning Royal Rumble weekend into a multi-night destination event, following WWE’s continued expansion of some of its biggest premium live events.

Dave Meltzer addressed the possibility on F4WOnline.com and suggested WWE may have reason to be cautious following its experience with the recent SummerSlam event.

“They are not trying that this year. I think I’d [be] more a lot more cautious about it after this past week [SummerSlam]. I don’t know about a women’s Rumble show on a Saturday drawing a good stadium crowd on its own. But a lot will be different in 2028 and where business is overall will probably lead to that decision being made one way or the other.”

Meltzer’s comments indicate that 2028 could become a more realistic point for WWE to reconsider the concept, with the strength of the company’s business and demand for tickets likely playing significant roles in any eventual decision.

For now, fans heading to Arizona can expect the familiar one-night Royal Rumble format when WWE takes over State Farm Stadium in 2027.

Would you like to see WWE turn the Royal Rumble into a two-night event, or is one night enough? Let us know what you think in the new WrestlingNewsSource.com comments section.
