Nick Aldis' return to the ring at WWE SummerSlam may not be a one off.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, there is a growing belief within WWE that Aldis will compete again in the future. While no timetable has been confirmed, one source reportedly suggested that fans may have to wait until 2027 before he steps back inside the ring.
The report also claims that Aldis is held in high regard backstage, with several people believing he is every bit as talented, if not more so, than a number of WWE stars who are regularly featured on television. There is reportedly strong support among some within the company for Aldis to receive a meaningful run as an active competitor.
Following his hard fought showdown with Gunther at SummerSlam, WWE announced that Aldis had been reinstated as SmackDown General Manager. He wasted little time making an impact, returning to his executive role by adding both Gunther and Kevin Owens to the number one contender's match alongside Sami Zayn and Finn Bálor on the following episode of SmackDown.
The SummerSlam contest marked Aldis' first match in nearly three years, with his previous bout taking place at an independent wrestling event on October 7, 2023.
Speaking in a recent interview, Aldis revealed that WWE informed him around a month before SummerSlam that he would be returning to the ring, giving him time to prepare for his highly anticipated comeback.
