Trey Miguel is officially ready to get back in the ring after receiving medical clearance following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Speaking with Local 4 News in Detroit, Miguel revealed he was cleared to compete this past Wednesday, only a few days after missing TNA Slammiversary. While waiting for his in ring return, he has already begun a new role as a coach at the newly opened Grind Time Wrestling Academy in Michigan. Former Detroit Red Wings star and occasional professional wrestler Darren McCarty is one of the key names involved with the academy.
Reflecting on his recovery, Miguel said: "I've been out for four months because of it. I was cleared yesterday."
Miguel has not wrestled since suffering a fractured patella during his match with Mustafa Ali at TNA Rebellion in April. Despite the serious injury, he finished the bout before Ali captured the TNA International Championship.
Ahead of Slammiversary, Miguel admitted he had hoped to return in time for the event but ultimately fell just short of receiving medical clearance.
"Second Slammiversary in a row I missed. Missing today hurt a little different," Miguel wrote. "Congrats to everyone who worked their ass off today to put on another great PPV. I really tried to push hard enough to be cleared by today."
Alongside preparing for his in ring comeback, Miguel will now help train aspiring wrestlers through beginner classes at Grind Time Wrestling Academy.
The positive news follows confirmation last month that Miguel has signed a new contract with TNA, although financial terms were not revealed. Earlier this year, he briefly joined AEW before being released after reports suggested Warner Bros. Discovery objected to his television appearances because of offensive social media posts from 2020. Miguel later admitted he considered walking away from wrestling altogether before deciding to return to TNA.
