Backstage in Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan's office, Randy Orton is officially signing the contract for his match against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Heath Slater walks in with a fruit basket. Slater is trying to apologize to Shane and Daniel about disrespecting them last week when they tried to offer him a contract. Randy Orton says he has an idea. He takes a bite of an apple but doesn't finish his thought before the SmackDown opening video hits.
In the arena now, it's time for Miz TV. Miz was just beginning to speak when Dean Ambrose's music hit. Here comes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Just as Ambrose was starting to talk, here comes Dolph Ziggler. Ambrose and Ziggler are bith telling each other why they feel confident in themselves heading into SummerSlam this Sunday. Ziggler was getting fired up and he caught Ambrose with a Superkick out of nowhere. The Champion is down as Ziggler leaves the ring.
Up next is a huge 12-Man Tag Team Match.
Here comes The Usos. Next is American Alpha. Now The Hype Bros. Their opponents are The Vaudevillains, The Ascension, and Breezango. Things quickly break down as we go to break. It's Ryder and Konnor in the ring when we return from break but they tag in an Uso and Aiden English. In comes Jason Jordan. It's chaos once again now. American Alpha hits their finish on Aiden English for the win.
Backstage, Dean Ambrose is visibly upset about earlier. It's announced that he will face Erick Rowan of The Wyatt Family later tonight.
Up next, the third attempt to have Eva Marie make her debut on SmackDown Live. It looks like Eva is scheduled to face Naomi here tonight. Naomi has a new glow-in-the-dark look and a new remix of her entrance theme. Eva's personal ring announcer revealed during her entrance that Eva Marie is stuck in traffic and will be unable to compete tonight.
Backstage, Alberto Del Rio is getting ready for his match with John Cena and A.J. Styles starts talking to him about it. ADR says he doesn't need A.J.'s pep talk. A.J. reminds him that he's in a big match at SummerSlam while Del Rio isn't even on the card for the PPV.
They just aired a vignette for the return of former WWE Tag Team Champion Curt Hawkins. They listed some "facts", somewhat similar to Matt Hardy's old Mattitude Facts from when he was Matt Hardy Version 1.0.
Time for Randy Orton vs. Heath Slater. Orton is in total control right from the start. The referee has disqualified Randy Orton for continuing to attack Heath Slater in the corner. Orton doesn't care, he just wants to destroy Slater. Orton Suplexes him gut-first onto the barricade, followed by the Draping DDT. Orton throws him back into the ring. Orton does a German Suplex and then imitates Brock Lesnar's jumping warm-ups. Another German Suplex followed by and RKO.
As Orton is doing his pose on the ropes, Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan appear on the TitanTron and say that they're here. We then take a commercial break. It didn't appear as though they were trying to get Orton's attention, though Orton was looking over at the TitanTron.
Backstage, Heath Slater is being checked by the doctor. Shane and Daniel congratulate him for his DQ win over Randy Orton. Shane presents him with a contract. Slater is delirious. He thinks he's looking at Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon. They take his contract away before he has a chance to sign it.
Back in the ring now, Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan are waiting on Dean Ambrose. And here comes "The Lunatic Fringe". It's WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose in a non-title match against Erick Rowan. Ambrose attacks immediately. Rowan gets him down. Rowan gets control for a moment but Ambrose quickly turns things around and knocks Rowan out of the ring. Back in the ring now, Rowan Powerslams Ambrose. They're outside the ring again now with Erick Rowan in control. Back in the ring again, Rowan has a Chinlock on Ambrose. Rowan is in control for now. Ambrose starts to avoid Rowan's attacks. Back Suplex by Ambrose. Spinning Heel Kick by Erick Rowan. Lunatic Lariat on Rowan. Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds for the win.
After the match, while Erick Rowan was recovering, Bray Wyatt glanced at Rowan's sheep mask for a moment and then left it in his rocking chair and walked away from Rowan.
Up next is a Women's Tag Team Match. Carmella and "The Irish Lass-Kicker" Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss and former Divas Champion Natalya Neidhart. Carmella and Natalya start things off. Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissors by Carmella. Nattie turns things around and tags in Alexa Bliss. Jawbreaker on Alexa. Becky gets the tag and starts clearing the ring. Becksploder Suplex on Natalya. Becky and Natalya both went for a Crossbody and collided. Out comes Eva Marie. Right behind her is Naomi. Naomi starts chasing Eva around the ring until they enter the ring. Natalya throws Naomi out and turns her attention to Becky. Natalya gets caught in Becky's Dis-Arm-Her submission hold and is forced to submit. Becky Lynch and Carmella win.
Backstage, "The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin is assaulting Kalisto once again.
After some video packages, here comes "The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles.
Up next, 15-time WWE World Champion John Cena takes on four-time WWE World Champion Alberto Del Rio. The crowd is split, as always. Hip Toss by Cena and ADR leaves the ring as we go to commercial break. German Suplex by ADR but Cena kicks out. Big kick to the face of Cena by Del Rio. He went for another one but Cena moved. Cena charges at Del Rio but Del Rio moved and Cena hit the turnbuckle hard. Del Rio hits a DDT but Cena kicks out again. We now take the final commercial break of the night. Cena goes for the AA but Del Rio hits a Backstabber for a 2-count. Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker by Del Rio. ADR went for the Enzuigiri but Cena moved and hit a big Clothesline. Del Rio then hits the Enzuigiri. Del Rio goes for the Cross Armbreaker but Cena counters into the STF. Del Rio gets out and hits two hard kicks on Cena but Cena kicks out. Cross Armbreaker by Del Rio. Cena powers out. Attitude Adjustment by John Cena for the win. Phenomenal Forearm by A.J. Styles on John Cena after the match. Styles tells Cena, "You're time is up, my time is now." He went for a Styles Clash but Cena countered into the AA. Cena is now tearing apart the commentary table. He's moving the steps close to the table. Attitude Adjustment from the top step and Styles goes crashing through the table.
