TNA Impact Wrestling Results (5/9/13)

Posted By: Elio Cannella reporting for WrestlingNewsSource.com on May 09, 2013

We look back at last week when Kurt Angle laid out an ultimatum to AJ Styles that he has until tonight to decide whose side he is on. Will AJ side with Aces & Eights, or come home to TNA?

Sting and Kurt Angle come out to the ring to start the show, and Sting says he's the #1 contender to the TNA World Title and, after the ruse (cunning attempt to trick us) Bully Ray used to get ahold of the TNA World Title, he's going to take the title back at Slammiversary. He asked Hulk for a six man tag tonight against Aces & Eights, and he wanted the best of the best, which is why he went straight to Kurt Angle. Angle says Aces & Eights came with a game plan and even he fell for it, and he made D-Lo scream in pain and quit last week, but there's one guy who can turn the tide in the war with Aces & Eights and that's AJ Styles. Kurt asks AJ to come out to the ring because he has something to ask him. AJ comes out to join Sting and Angle in the ring, and Angle says they're ready for war and wants to know if AJ will join them in the war against Aces & Eights. AJ says nothing, so Angle says he's sick of asking and demands that AJ answers the question. Angle gets right in AJ's face, but Sting steps in and says he was in AJ's shoes once and spent a year hanging out in the rafters because he felt like he'd been wronged, but TNA needs AJ Styles. Sting asks AJ if he sees and hears the fans, and says that TNA is the house that AJ Styles built. He knows AJ wants to do the right thing and asks him to shake his hand and join up with TNA. Angle has had enough and gets in AJ's face and says he's tired of asking this question and says he's either with them or against them. AJ decides he doesn't need this crap and turns to leave. Angle tells AJ not to walk away from him, but AJ keeps walking so Angle chases after him and spins him around. AJ shoves Angle, Angle takes AJ down with a double leg, and the two of them start brawling as officials run out to try and separate them. While everyone is distracted with Angle and AJ, Sting winds up getting laid out when Bully Ray, Devon, and Ken Anderson come out through the crowd and attack him. Bubba and Devon hit 3D and then escape through the crowd before Angle can make it back to the ring to make the save.

We go to commercial, and when we come back we take a look at what just happened between Angle and Styles before the CameraMoron catches up with AJ backstage and asks if he's just going to leave TNA hanging. AJ shoots him a dirty look while checking to see if a tooth got knocked out, then storms out of the building without saying a word.

Tara & Gail Kim vs Mickie James & Knockouts Champion Velvet Sky

Mickie and Gail start us off, Gail quickly gains control and then tags in Tara for a double parachute slam. Tara hangs Mickie in the Tree of Woe and baseball slides her in the face, then stops to make out with Jessie while Gail tags herself in to dish out more punishment to Mickie. Mickie manages to make the tag to Velvet, who comes in and javelins Gail into Jessie and sends both of them flying off the apron, then hits In Your Face on Tara to pick up the win.

Winners: Mickie James & Velvet Sky

Velvet was still selling the bad knee toward the end of the match, so looks like that may become an ongoing angle based off the real injury. Gail is not happy with Tara for losing the match, and she lays Tara out with a short clothesline before dragging her to the corner and putting her in the ringpost figure four.

Aces & Eights is backstage getting ready to take care of business tonight. D-Lo Brown walks in late and Bubba says he guesses he didn't know there was club business to attend to, but they've got stuff to do out in the ring tonight. Bubba asks everyone but D-Lo if they're ready to go, and then they walk out and leave D-Lo alone in the clubhouse.

Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian come into James Storm's locker room and come bearing gifts in the form of beer, and Daniels says they didn't bring it to kiss his ass because he's the referee tonight, they brought it to remind him of what Bobby Roode did to him when he won the title. Kazarian says to forget about Fortune because they can be Threetune, and they tell Storm to mull it over and they'll see him out in the ring later.

Aces & Eights comes out to the ring for some club business, and Bubba says that he, Devon, and everybody's favorite asshole Mr. Anderson will stand in this ring to take on Kurt Angle, Sting, and their big mystery partner. They know damn well it won't be AJ Styles since he's seen the light of day, and he says that any wrestlers who might want to step up and ride to the rescue shouldn't do it because they don't want any part of the Aces & Eights. Bubba then turns to club business and tells D-Lo that he disgraced himself, he disgraced the club, and he disgraces his brothers, and he tells D-Lo to take off his colors and put them in Bubba's hand right now. D-Lo hesitates before shaking his head no, Bubba asks D-Lo if he said no before telling him one more time to hand his colors over, but D-Lo says his cut is his life and the answer is no. Anderson gets in D-Lo's face and yells that he quit and this club isn't for quitters, and Bubba says Anderson's right because he quit on himself, the club, and everybody. D-Lo let himself down and takes the colors off of D-Lo, then asks him how he's going to earn his colors back tonight. D-Lo says he's got a match with Magnus and he's going to kick his ass. Bubba says that D-Lo's actually going to sit at the timekeeper's table while Doc fights Magnus, and he better hope Doc wins because that's the only way he's getting his cut back. Aces & Eights clears out as we go right into...

Doc vs Brutus Magnus

We join the match in progress after the commercial break as Magnus comes off the second rope right into the big boot of Doc. D-Lo is cheering Doc on from ringside as Doc whips Magnus to the corner and nails him with a charging splash in the corner and a short clothesline for 2. Doc hits a snap suplex and then fishhooks both sides of Magnus' mouth before planting his boot in his chest. Magnus catches Doc on another charge with a big boot and then lays the big man out with a series of clotheslines. Magnus with the Marufuji clothesline and goes up top, Doc nails him and goes for a superplex, but Magnus knocks Docc into the ring and hits the top rope elbowdrop for a very close 2. D-Lo is looking very tense at ringside and drags Magnus under the bottom rope, he tries to whip Magnus into the steps but Magnus reverses and D-Lo takes the shot into the steps. Magnus goes back inside, but the distraction allowed Doc the time to recover and he nails Magnus with an inverted F5 for 2. D-Lo goes to hook Magnus' ankle, but hooks Doc's by mistake and allows Magnus to roll Doc up for the win.

Winner: Brutus Magnus

D-Lo's head explodes when he realizes what he just did, and an irate Doc shoves D-Lo while yelling at him before storming off in disgust.

We go back to the Aces & Eights clubhouse after the commercial, and Bubba orders Aces & Eights to hold D-Lo down while he threatens to cave his skull in with a hammer. Anderson says to wait because he has a better idea: give D-Lo a job he can handle. Bubba says that's a good idea and tells D-Lo that from now on, he's getting their beer, wiping their butts, whatever he wants because he's busted down to Prospect. Bubba kicks D-Lo out of the clubhouse before telling Anderson that he should have nailed him with the hammer.

We go back to Hulk Hogan's office where Sting and Kurt Angle convince Hulk Hogan not to try and be their partner in the main event because of his injuries, and Hogan says he might not have to because he got a phone call from a wild card, and if this person is who he says he is, they don't have to worry because this guy is going to come in and just destroy Aces & Eights. Angle and Sting bring up Magnus and convince Hogan to give him the shot, and Hogan gives the okay before saying he has to go take care of some business.

Austin Aries and Bobby Roode catch up with James Storm backstage and Aries gives Storm some wine (since Storm likes Beer Money they can be Beer Wine), then says that Roode has something to tell him. Roode hesitates, then says that he was always jealous of Storm for carrying Beer Money and he only beat him for the title because he hit him with a beer bottle. Storm asks if Aries told him to say that, then tells Roode that the boys think that when Aries beat him for the title, it wasn't a fluke. Storm walks off to head to the ring while an irate Roode tells Aries this was a stupid idea.

#1 Contender Match: Bobbhy Roode & Austin Aries vs Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian

Christy Hemme accidentally introduces Roode & Aries as Daniels & Kazarian, leading to a funny moment where Aries indignantly corrects her and has Christy chuckling during the revised introduction. Aries & Kazarian start us off with a feeling out process, then they take turns raking one another's eyes, then simultaneously tag out. Daniels and Roode come in and shake hands, then sneak in a cheap kick on each other. Roode overpowers Daniels with a shoulderblock, Daniels gets a short jab in on Roode, but stops to celebrate and gets taken out with a clothesline from Roode. Roode with a pair of short kneelifts and a Russian legsweep for 2, Aries nails Daniels from the outside and Roode lays Daniels out with a shot from behind before tagging Aries in to hit the pendulum elbowdrop. He makes a cover, but Kazarian distracts Storm and prevents him from making the count, so Aries irately tells Storm to do his job before choking Daniels out in the corner. Roode tags in and chokes Daniels as well with his boot, then Aries chokes Daniels from the ring apron before Roode dumps him out to the entry ramp and draws Kazarian into the ring to distract Roode so Aries can come off the top rope with a double axhandle to Daniels. Daniels rolls back inside and Roode covers for 2, stops to suckerpunch Kazarian off the apron, then gets nailed from behind by Daniels and sent out to the floor where a pissed off Kazarian beats him up, calls him a douche, then rolls him back inside so Bad Influence can hit a series of double team moves. Kazarian hits a springboard legdrop on Roode for 2, then mounts Roode's back and hammers elbows into the back of his head. Roode finally makes it to his corner and Aries comes flying in and takes Kazarian's head off with the IED, then lays Daniels out with a hard clothesline and backdrops him out to the floor right on top of Kazarian. Aries CRUSHES Daniels with a heat seeking missile to the floor that nearly sends them through the barricade, then sends Daniels back inside, does the Guerrero dance, and hits a frogsplash for 2. Daniels and Kazarian hit a pop up neckbreaker/powerbomb combo out of nowhere on Aries, but Roode breaks it up at 2. Roode hits Kazarian with a spinebuster, Daniels hits an STO on Roode, Aries hits the kneebreaker/suplex combo on Daniels and goes for another IED but runs right into Daniels' boot. Aries blocks Angel's Wings, Daniels escapes the brainbuster and rolls Aries up with a handful of tights, but Storm refuses to count. Daniels argues the matter with Storm as Aries grabs a beer bottle from the corner and takes a mouthful and spews it in Daniels' face before offering the bottle to Storm. Storm takes abig swig of the beer and Aries gets in his face for drinking on the job (I guess) and shoves him. Storm goes for the Last Call, but Aries moves and Storm lays Daniels out. A triumphant Aries tells Storm to count, and Storm counts 2...then gets up and lays Aries out with another Last Call. Storm's music plays for some reason as he walks out without rendering a decision. Okay then, let's call it...

NO CONTEST

We go backstage where Aces & Eights are kicking the crap out of Brutus Magnus in a 37-on-1 beatdown, and he fights valiantly, but can't take out 72 guys by himself and he gets knocked out with a trash can shot to the head before they dump a bunch of stuff onto his head off camera. Well, I guess Sting and Angle need a Plan C.

We look back at last week when Chris Sabin returned to the ring after nearly two full years on the shelf with injuries, then Kenny King comes out to the ring and says how awesome he is for winning the X Division Title, being awesome, and beating the odds. But it's not about him, he's here to talk to someone else who has battled the odds, and introduces Chris Sabin. King says we've all heard the story, but Sabin wants him to tell us all his story again. Sabin says he has no idea what it's like when someone dedicates his life to something and then has it all taken away in an instant, but he also doesn't know the drive and fighting spirit held inside Chris Sabin. He has nothing else to lose at this point, so every time he gets in the ring from here on out, he's wrestling like it's the last time, and Kenny better enjoy having the title for now because he's winning it the next time. King says he thinks we put wins and losses ahead of what's really important and says that Chris Sabin is an inspiration, and this may sound funny coming from him, but Sabin is inspirational to him and he thinks it would be good for everyone to see him holding the belt one last time, and he wants everyone to see this because it's the closest he's ever getting to that title as long as King's alive. Even without two torn ACLs, Sabin would never be as good or as fast as him, and he tells Sabin to give him back HIS belt. Sabin refuses, so King again tells him to give his belt back, so Sabin obliges by tossing it to King and then laying him out with a series of forearms. King backtracks up the rampway as Sabin stand triumphant in the ring.

We go backstage where the referees are separating Roode, Aries, Daniels and Kazarian as we see Storm laid out with a chair, but we don't know who actually knocked him out. SUSPENSE!

The Bound For Glory Series is almost upon us, and this year, we're going to have a mini-tournament of the four male Gut Check winners with the winner earning a spot in the Bound For Glory Series. Next week: Sam Shaw, Alex Silva, Jay Bradley, and Christian York face off with the winner earning a spot in the BFG Series. That sounds cool!

We go to the Aces & Eights clubhouse where Bully Ray says he knows everyone isn't happy with what happened to D-Lo Brown, but they have to protect the integrity of the club and weed out the weak members. D-Lo said he quit, so he's on the outside looking in. Mike Knox asks if there's anything else they can give D-Lo to do, and Bubba says he can have D-Lo put the beer on ice because they're going out to pick up women.

We go back to Hogan's office where Sting and Angle ask what they're going to do now since they're out of time, and their music hits and they have to leave as Hogan is on the phone with someone asking where he is and if he's ready.

TNA World Champion Bully Ray, Devon & Ken Anderson vs Sting, Kurt Angle & ??????

The bell rings and we've only got Sting and Angle in the ring, so I guess we're going 3-on-2 until Hogan's secret weapon comes out at 9:58. Devon beats Angle down to start the match before Angle comes back with back elbows, clotheslines, and an overhead release suplex for 2. Bubba tags in and winds up on the receiving end of a series of armdrags from Angle. Sting and Anderson come in and Sting easily tears through Anderson, yanks the middle rope up into Anderson's crotch as he tries to escape to the floor, and cheapshots Devon on the apron before tagging Angle in to dish out some punishment to Anderson. Devon comes in and goes to Angle's eyes, then rams him into Bubba's boot to turn the tide. Bubba comes in and hammers Angle with hard shots and an avalanche in the corner, then Bubba and Devon hit a double team neckbreaker as a camera goes back to the Aces & Eights clubhouse and finds the entire gang laid out after some major badass apparently came in and cleaned house. We'll find out what this is about after we come back from commercial

We're back and Bully Ray drills Angle with a standing dropkick I wouldn't have thought he could do, then tags Anderson in to nail Angle with a back elbow for 2. Devon tags in and Bubba tells him to go after Angle's neck, so Devon hits a pair of neckbreakers and gets him in a neck vice. Angle tries to fight back, but Bubba nails Angle from the outside and Devon regains control. Bubba tags back in and goes back to work on Angle's neck, but Angle hits the Hacker Slam out of nowhere and finally makes the hot tag to Sting, who comes in and runs Devon over with a series of clotheslines, a Stinger Splash, and the Scorpion Deathdrop. Anderson breaks up the fall at 2, but Sting clears him out quickly and hits another Stinger Splash on Devon and a bulldog, but now Bubba breaks up the count at 2. Sting and Bubba go nose to nose and trade blows in the middle of the ring, Sting takes Bubba down and gets the Scorpion Deathlock, but Anderson comes in and hits the Mic Check as Devon rams Angle into the ringpost on the floor. Devon brings a table into the ring and Bubba and Devon get ready to put Sting through it when ABYSS emerges from the back, flattnes both Bubba and Devon, then chokeslams Anderson through the table (and really drills him too), then hits a Black Hole Slam on Devon and gets the win.

Winners: Sting, Kurt Angle & Abyss

Sting is stunned as Abyss stands tall over the fallen members of Aces & Eights and we call it a week.
