Smackdown this week comes to us from Dayton Ohio and begins with the entire roster out at ringside for an address from WWE management.  We see EVPT John Laurinaitis in the ring and he welcomes everybody to Smackdown. He says in Triple H’s absence  he has assembled all the WWE superstars to discuss the issues that perhaps Triple H as COO has lost total control of the WWE. That chaos may have engulfed RAW culminating in the dismissal of two premiere RAW superstars. R-Truth & The Miz. Laurinaitis on the other hand has changed his mind.  He believes that Triple H has controlled the situation.  Now many of the superstars and many of the people out in the world may not agree and have their own opinions. But Monday night when Laurinatis looked into Triple H’s eyes he saw resolve and determination and that when Triple H arrives tonight he hopes that the WWE Universe sees it too.  Laurinaitis then announced the new World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. Henry came out and took the mic. He said it’s taken him 15 years to earn the title. And it’s going to take 15 more before somebody takes it away from him because there’s no man that’s going to take what he’s got. And he singles out Ezekiel Jackson saying Jackson didn’t believe. He says Teddy Long who at what time managed Mark Henry didn’t believe. Triple H’s theme plays and out comes the COO. Triple H asks for the mic but Mark Henry just looks at him before handing the mic over. Christian then interrupts before Triple H can say anything and says on behalf of himself and the entire roster Triple H is doing a wonderful job as Mr. COO of the WWE and his treatment of the superstars on Smackdown has been exemplary and he appreciates it. Christian says Triple H’s credo has always been “leadership by example” and as a former two time World Champion it’s Christian’s credo as well. He says all the superstars on Smackdown look up to him and that he’s kind of a big deal.  Christian then runs down Mark Henry but Triple H stops Henry before he can do anything. Christian says he deserves to be the face of Smackdown. If they’re going to go all the way and if he’s going to be the leader he knows he can be he kind of needs to be the World Champion. He then reminded Triple H that he deserves one more match to become the World Heavyweight Champion. So after Hell In A Cell after Mark Henry chokes like Christian knows he wil he’ll be the guy to pick up the reigns. He’ll be the guy that’s going to lead Smackdown. He’ll be the guy that’s going to beat and embarrass Randy Orton to become a three time World Heavyweight Champion. Triple H then thanks the superstars for coming out tonight and assures them that he is in complete control of both RAW and Smackdown and the WWE. The COO then says he appreciates Christian stepping up like a leader. Lead by example and he’s going to give Christian the opportunity to lead by example in front of all the WWE superstars tonight because they’re all going to come back out later in the night and surround the ring for a Lumberjack Match and books a World Heavyweight Championship Match.  Christian vs Mark Henry. And the winner of tonight’s match will face Randy Orton at ‘Hell In A Cell’.  Triple H exits as Christian pleads with him to re-consider and Mark Henry takes a few steps and is standing right behind Christian.  Christian turns around and comes face to face with the World Champion before exiting the ring.

Backstage: Sheamus is preparing to head out to the ring for his match coming up next

Sheamus vs Heath Slater

There’s the lock up and Sheamus powers Slater into the corner and we get a clean break. Waist lock by Slater turned into a headlock Sheamus with the irish whip into the ropes and a shoulderblock to Slater sending him to the mat. Slater gets up and slaps Sheamus and Sheamus fires a punch sending Slater back down to the mat. Sheamus with a huge punch to the back of the neck picking Slater up dragging him to the ropes pulling his upper body between the top and middle rope Sheamus now firing a series of forearms into Slater’s chest. Sheamus out on the apron and a running high knee to Slater. Slater back in the ring Sheamus running Slater head first into the turnbuckle and following up with a series of punches to the body beating Slater down into the corner. Slater fights back.  A kick to Sheamus followed up by a swinging neckbreaker 1…..and now it’s Slater in control beating down Sheamus. Reverse chinlock by Slater. Sheamus fights back with punches to the body   Irish whip Slater over Sheamus’ head. A forearm to the back Sheamus with a clothesline ducked by Slater and a neckbreaker to Sheamus 1….  1……Slater slaps Sheamus in the head. Sheamus gets to his feet and a clothesline just mows Slater down. And another clothesline irish whip into the corner but Slater gets the boot up. Out of the corner and Heath Slater runs into a body slam.  Off the ropes and Sheamus with a huge leg over Slater who’s draped over that middle rope and another running high knee. Sheamus to the top now and a flying battering ram. Slater gets up!!! Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick!!! 1….2…3

Backstage: Great Khali is warming up.  In walks Christian and he says he knows Khali knows Christian’s got a World Title match in a lumberjack match tonight and some day Khali will get his world title match.  He asks when that day comes does Khali want to face a guy like Mark Henry.  A guy who’s taken out Kane and Big Show? Giants just like Khali? Or would he want to face somebody just a little bit smaller but obviously someone a little bit smarter a little bit craftier. Someone like Christian.  Christian asks if Khali understands and if he has Christian’s back.  Khali says he understands…..Christian is small. Christian smiles and laughs at the “joke” and leaves believing he and Khali have a deal.

Wade Barrett vs Justin Gabriel

The bell rings and Barrett grabs Gabriel’s arm and yanks him to the mat with a hair grab.  Gabriel is in the corner as Barrett unloads on him with a punch to the face and a series of body blows. Referee Charles Robinson warning Wade Barrett about the closed fists.  Gabriel fires back with a reverse knife edge chop and Barrett fires back with a right.  Gabriel down to one knee now against the ropes and Barrett pulls Gabriel’s upper body through the top and middle rope turns him around and delivers a series of knee strikes.  The referee once more warning Barrett to back up and get Gabriel out of the ropes   Barrett bounces off the ropes and hits Gabriel with a big boot to the face. Gabriel falls to the outside. Barrett follows and tosses Gabriel back into the ring. 1…2…Irish whip into the corner Gabriel leapfrogs onto the ropes catches Barrett with a headscissors and hits a hurricanrana sending Barrett to the outside.  Barrett gets up and Gabriel hits a corkscrew to the outside onto Barrett.  Gabriel tosses Barrett back in.  Springboard dive off the ropes 1…2…Gabriel kicks Barrett and delivers a chop and then follows up with a roundhouse kick.  A punch by Gabriel Gabriel going for an STO but it’s blocked by Barrett.  A second attempt this time Gabriel hits it. Gabriel going to the top but he’s cut off by Barrett as Barrett puts the boots to him.  Wade Barrett setting up for The Wasteland 1…..2….3

Backstage: Matt Striker says tonight is Randy Orton’s first match since losing the world title and it’s against Cody Rhodes and asks for comments. Orton has none. Striker then asks what’s been running through Orton’s mind since losing the world title.  Orton says just one thing.  Going to hell and then says just like the song ‘Hell Ain’t No Bad Place To Be’. Especially if that’s where you go to become World Heavyweight Champion again. So he’ll be dragging Mark Henry to the depths of hell with him. Or maybe it’ll be Christian who already has a permanent residence. But one way or another when Orton comes back from hell he’ll be bringing the World Heavyweight Championship with him

Backstage: Christian is with Ezekiel Jackson and says Jackson’s not just doing Christian a favour.  He’s doing himself a favour. Jackson says so Christian is saying he can actually beat Mark Henry and Christian says no that’s not what he said. Christian says he’s been a two time World Heavyweight Champion and asks Jackson how many times HE’s been a World Heavyweight Champion. Christian says Jackson is the personification of domination and as a former two time World Heavyweight Champion he can spot a future champion a mile away. Christian leaves thinking he and Jackson have an agreement.

Beth Phoenix & Natalya vs AJ & Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn & Natalya lock up and Natalya powers Kaitlyn into the corner. Natalya charges but Kaitlyn moves out of the way.  And a dropkick to Natalya. Kaitlyn goes to grab Natalya but Natalya trips Kaitlyn against the ropes.  And Natalya choking Kaitlyn out on the ropes. And from the outside Beth Phoenix with a kick to Kaitlyn as Natalya distracts the referee.  Referee Mike Chioda restoring order before things get out of hand as Natalya smashes Kaitlyn’s face into the mat.  Natalya picks Kaitlyn up tag to Beth Phoenix and a double suplex to Kaitlyn courtesy of the Divas Of Doom.  And Beth adding insult to injury by rubbing Kaitlyn’s face into the mat.  Beth grabs Kaitlyn’s hair picking her up but Kaitlyn fights back with a series of punches.   Kaitlyn tags out to AJ.  Beth goes for a clothesline ducked by AJ and AJ with a series of kicks and punches to Beth.  Beth pushes her back into the corner she charges AJ moves out of the way and Beth hits the turnbuckle.  And a clothesline to Beth by AJ followed up by a dropkick.  Beth Phoenix down to one knee now.  AJ off the ropes and a boot puts The Glamazon on her back. 1….2….Natalya runs in to break up the pin.  And Kaitlyn runs in taking Natalya out. Irish whip by Beth AJ leaping onto the corner ropes a headscissors and Beth kicks AJ off dragging her to the middle of the ring.  Beth sets AJ up for the Glam Slam 1…2….3

Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes

The bell rings and both Orton and Rhodes trade kicks and Orton takes control of the match. He throws Cody to the outside.  Orton follows and delivers a european uppercut. Orton picks Rhodes up and throws him into the barricades. Orton stalking Rhodes tosses him back into the ring.  Orton re-enters but Rhodes cuts him off with a kick and Orton hits the apron.  Back in the ring Rhodes takes control kicking Orton and now Rhodes working over the leg delivering an elbow to the back of the head. Irish whip reversed by Orton and Orton is met with an elbow but The Viper fires back with a series of punches.  And Orton beating on Rhodes as the referee puts the five count on him.  Rhodes clips Orton’s knee again and Randy crumples to the mat in a heap. And Rhodes going to work on the injured leg once more.  Rhodes beating down Orton he grabs Orton’s leg and picks Orton up dropping him with a knee slam.  Orton gets to his feet fires back with a punch.  Irish whip into the corner Rhodes kicks Orton in the leg. And Rhodes to the outside dragging Orton to the corner slamming his leg against the ringpost. Rhodes back in the ring now removing the padding looking to expose the steel turnbuckle.  The referee admonishing Rhodes about his actions.  Grabbing the padding the referee replacing the padding on the turnbuckle. With the referee’s back turned Rhodes removing his mask and he nails Randy Orton in the face and Orton goes down 1…..2…The referee asking why Rhodes’ mask is off Rhodes saying Orton removed the mask.  Rhodes looking for a kick Orton grabs his leg and Orton pulls Rhodes’ mask off and smashes him in the face with it.  The referee calls for the bell

The winner of the match via DQ: WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes!!!!

Post match: Orton continues his assault on Rhodes repeatedly striking Cody with his very own mask. Orton picks Rhodes up pulls him to the ropes and sets him up for the mid-rope DDT.

Backstage: Christian approaches Sheamus and offers him a potato. Christian says he knows how the irish love their potato and Sheamus says yes that’s all they eat. Christian said last Sunday Sheamus kicked him right in the face but he meant what he said.  When Christian gets his World Heavyweight Championship back Sheamus gets the first shot and wants to know if Sheamus will be out there for the lumberjack match.  Sheamus says of course he will. Christian can count on him.  Christian says he appreciates it and says he has a whole bag of potatoes.  Sheamus thanks him for the potato and says he’ll cherish it.  He takes a bite and spits the potato out saying it’s not from Ireland it’s from Idaho.

Great Khali vs Jinder Mahal

Jinder Mahal orders Khali to lay down for him but Khali refuses.  A kick by Mahal and Mahal with a series of punches. Khali pushes him away Mahal off the ropes and Khali chops him down.  And Khali rams Mahal’s head into the turnbuckle followed by a huge slap to Mahal’s chest. Khali looking to capitalize but Mahal slides out of the ring to safety. Mahal is back in Khali grabs him by the throat Mahal with a series of kicks. Mahal hooks Khali up and drops him with a DDT. Mahal follows up with a kneedrop 1….2…Mahal with a kick and now applying a front facelock trying to wear Khali down..  Khali to his feet picks Mahal up and drops him face first Mahal gets up and Khali chops him down a second chop from Khali. And a punch to Mahal. Khali picks Mahal up Mahal kicks him. Khali wraps his massive hands around Mahal’s neck and lifts him up in the air and drops him with a double handed chokeslam. Khali places a boot on top of Mahal’s chest 1…2…3

Sin Cara vs Daniel Bryan

Sin Cara and Daniel Bryan are set to lock up.  Side headlock by Bryan and Sin Cara with punches to the body whipping Bryan into the ropes Sin Cara ducks and Daniel Bryan with a side headlock takedown. Sin Cara gets out of it and locks a headscissors on Daniel Bryan. Bryan escapes and Bryan locking Sin Cara’s legs grabbing his arms and pulling back on Sin Cara locking a submission hold in he turns it into a bridging pin combination 1….2…Bryan picks Sin Cara up and delivers a european uppercut.  Wristlock on Sin Cara and Bryan whips him into the corner. Bryan charges and Sin Cara gets the boots up.  Sin Cara jumping onto Bryan’s shoulders going for a bulldog but Bryan counters it into a wheelbarrow countered by Sin Cara and Bryan gets flipped over.  Sin Cara runs across the ring Bryan flips him over his shoulder Sin Cara lands on the apron and a kick to the face by Sin Cara.  Sin Cara up top and he goes airbourne with a flying cross body onto Daniel Bryan 1….2….A wheelbarrow attempt by Sin Cara caught by Daniel Bryan and Bryan hits a German suplex 1….2….a back suplex attempt by Bryan Sin Cara flips over his shoulder off the ropes ducks springboard off the other side and an elbow sends Bryan to the mat and Bryan rolls out of the ring. Sin Cara off the ropes and a springboards to the apron and a hurricanarana onto the Daniel Bryan. Sin Cara tosses Bryan back into the ring.  Sin Cara up to the top and out comes the other Sin Cara and pushes the first Sin Cara off the top rope and the second Sin Cara on the apron now Bryan gets back to his feet and Sin Cara kicks Bryan in the face. And the second Sin Cara up to the top and lands a swanton onto Daniel Bryan 1…2…3

Backstage: Christian is standing outside Randy Orton’s locker room and knocks on the door and out comes Zack Ryder. Christian sais he loved Ryder on RAW this week he was amazing wth Hugh Jackman and he had Ryder’s headband on.  Christian said he could wear Ryder’s sunglasses he could be Ryder’s broski of the week.  Ryder said he’d love to do Christian a solid but he can’t he’s the assistant General Manager of Smackdown. It’d be a conflict of interest. Christian knows Ryder can’t help him.  But he can help him Ryder can go back in and convince Randy Orton to help Christian.  Ryder’s cell phone then goes off and it’s Hugh Jackman.  He walks off leaving Christian standing outside Orton’s locker room

Air Boom vs The Usos

Evan Bourne and Jey Uso to start things out.  Lock up hammerlock by Bourne into a side headlock.  Lock up once more and it’s Jey with the side headlock but Bourne gets out of it. And a roundhouse kick to Jey 1…and Bourne with a kick to Jey’s leg.  Jimmy tags himself in. Jey whips Bourne into the ropes Bourne with a springboard off the ropes and a cross body onto Jey but the Usos catch him and a sidewalk slam by Jimmy 1….2…and Kofi in for the save. Jimmy tags out to Jey. Jimmy holding Bourne in place across his knee Jey off the top rope and and elbow to Bourne.  Jey with a shoulderblock to Bourne in the corner.  Tag out to Jimmy.  Jimmy whips Jey into the corner and Jey hits the splash on Bourne 1….2…...Jey with a chinlock now. Bourne to his feet and Bourne with a kick and Jey with a forearm across the back. And Bourne and Uso trading moves now. Bourne fighting off both Usos and a hurricanrana takedown by Evan Bourne. Bourne makes the tag to Kingston and Kofi hits a clothesline from the top rope and Kingston off the ropes chops Uso down. Follow up with a well placed dropkick.  Kofi flies across the ring but misses with the big splash. Jey charges but Kingston gets the boot up.  Kingston off the top rope with a cross body 1…2….Kingston setting up for Trouble In Paradise.  Takes out the other Uso but turns around and is hit with a superkick 1….2….Both Usos in now but Kofi takes one of them out and hits Trouble In Paradise on the other. Tags out to Evan Bourne.  Bourne set to go airbourne as he heads to the top rope. The 450 Splash connects 1….2….3

Lumberjack Match: Christian vs Mark Henry

The Lumberjacks are surrounding the ring and Christian comes out first followed by Mark Henry. Tony Chimel the makes the official introduction

Henry and Christian circle but Christian stalls sticking his head through the ropes.  Henry and Christian lock up and Henry powers Christian dropping him face first to the mat. Henry goes for a stomp but Christian rolls out of the way.  They go for the lock up once more but Christian has other ideas as he puts a waist lock on Mark Henry from behind.  Henry backs Christian into the corner and drills Christian in the head with an elbow.  Henry whips Christian face first into the the turnbuckle. Mark Henry stomping on Christian. Irish whip clothesline attempt Christian ducks and lands a series of hard slaps to Mark Henry’s face.  Christian off the ropes Henry catches him by the neck and a choke toss over the top rope to the outside.  Ezekiel Jackson holding the Lumberjacks back as Christian gets up and it’s Jackson who drives a knee into Christian tossing him back into the ring. 1…..2…..Christian back up and Mark Henry drops him with a headbutt. Stomp by Henry and now Henry from behind places his hands on either side of Christian’s neck applying pressure as he tries to wear the challenger down with a vice grip.  Whipped into the corner and Henry drops Christian face first to the mat 1….2…..Henry now back to the wear down hold.  The referee asking Christian if he wants to give up.  Henry applying pressure to the vice grip.  He releases the hold goes to pick Christian up but is met with a kick to the face. Christian getting to his feet with the aid of the ropes and a kick to Henry followed by another hard slap.  Christian off the top a reverse cross body but the World’s Strongest Man catches him in a bearhug.  Henry releases it and rams Christian back first into the corner.  Henry going for the splash in the corner but Christian moves out of the way.  Christian with a series of slaps and punches to Henry off the ropes and Christian hits a clothesline but Henry still standing.  He does it again and still can’t knock off his feet.  Irish whip attempt blocked by Henry countered by Henry as he whips Christian into the corner.  Henry runs into a boot from Christian.  Christian off the ropes nails a dropkick and Henry still on his feet.  Christian going all the way to the top now and another dropkick this time Henry falls to the mat 1…2…Christian looking to flip the switch but it’s blocked by Henry.  Christian off the ropes but Henry bulldozed right through him mowing him down. 1…..2….Christian to his feet as Henry stalks him.  Christian kicks Henry.  Off the ropes sunset flip attempt by Christian but not able to get the big man down.  Henry looking to squash Christian but Christian rolls out of the way. Henry rolls to the outside and grabs Christian’s legs tripping him up and just pulls him to the outside as Christian hits the floor hard.  The lumberjacks going after Henry but Henry fights them off.  The numbers game however catches up to him but that doesn’t stop Henry from powering through the lumberjacks.  Henry rolls back into the ring.  Christian halfway up the ramp wanting nothing to do with Mark Henry after witnessing Henry dismantling the lumberjacks.  From behind Sheamus runs down and tosses Christian back into the ring.  World’s Strongest Slam by Mark Henry 1….2….3

Post Match: Randy Orton runs down and faces off with Mark Henry and a brawl ensues between The Viper and The World’s Strongest Man.  Orton pelting Henry with punches looking for an RKO countered by Henry Henry going for a clothesline ducked by Orton who lands a dropkick sending Henry through the ropes to the outside.  Henry and Orton stare each other down as Henry holds the World Heavyweight Championship high above his head.
