WWE’s roster had reportedly already left Saudi Arabia before a missile attack struck Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District, a day after Crown Jewel.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the wrestlers departed shortly after the event. Some production staff may still have been in the city, although the report said there was no indication that anyone associated with WWE had been affected.
“The WWE roster was long gone before the attack happened. There would still be some WWE staff in the city, likely those helping to break down the arena and production, but we have not heard any anyone associated to the company being affected.”
The report also noted that most backstage interviews shown during the Crown Jewel post-show were recorded while the event was still taking place. This allowed talent to leave promptly rather than remain for live post-show appearances. Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn’s promos were the exceptions.
Crown Jewel went ahead despite a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport a month earlier. WWE and parent company TKO reportedly remained comfortable proceeding with the event.
According to Saudi state media and official sources cited in the report, there were no injuries or fatalities at the Riyadh Aramco building, which was largely empty when the latest attack occurred.
