AEW Dynamite came out ahead in its latest ratings clash with WWE NXT, as Blood & Guts attracted 792,000 viewers on TBS.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Wednesday’s special recorded a 0.24 rating among adults aged 18 to 49 and a 0.27 in the 25 to 54 demographic.
NXT, which aired opposite Dynamite on The CW, averaged 552,000 viewers. It scored a 0.13 in the 18 to 49 demographic and a 0.16 among viewers aged 25 to 54.
The result gave Dynamite a lead of 240,000 viewers despite NXT featuring John Cena, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes.
NXT moved from Tuesday to Wednesday because The CW’s local stations carried election night coverage on 3 November. The special line-up included Punk challenging Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship, while Rhodes presented the trophy to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winners.
AEW countered with both men’s and women’s Blood & Guts matches.
Meltzer described Dynamite’s 18 to 49 rating as its strongest in years, surpassing the 0.22 recorded by the Tribute to PAC episode on 30 September. That broadcast attracted a larger overall audience of 899,000 viewers. He also described this week’s 25 to 54 figure as its second best.
The outcome reversed the overall viewership result from the shows’ previous clash on 6 October. According to Wrestlenomics, NXT drew 532,000 viewers that night against Dynamite’s 495,000. AEW still held a narrow advantage in the 18 to 49 demographic, scoring 0.11 against NXT’s 0.10.
