Darby Allin has completed his first New York City Marathon, but there is one thing he would change about the experience: doing some training beforehand.
The AEW star finished the 26.2-mile course on November 1 in five hours, 35 minutes and 14 seconds. Running without any training had been his plan, but with Blood & Guts taking place just three days later, Allin is feeling the consequences.
Speaking to 1010XL Sports Radio in Jacksonville, Allin admitted his legs were still paying the price.
“Dude, I’m feeling every ounce of that,” Allin said. “Because everyone’s like, ‘Yo, congratulations.’ And then I was like, ‘Dude, I wish I trained for that.’ I didn’t train once for it. And then, little did I know, it was only gonna be a few days removed from Blood & Guts. And Blood & Guts is the most violent, crazy night of the year for AEW. My legs are feeling all 26.2 miles of that marathon.”
Allin now heads into tonight’s November 4 Blood & Guts match alongside Steven Borden, The Young Bucks, Adam Copeland and Will Ospreay. They will face Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis, Jake Doyle, Wardlow and Kazuchika Okada.
The match also marks Borden’s return to action after Allin’s tag team partner suffered a concussion at AEW All Out in late September.
Having climbed Mount Everest in 2025 and now completed a marathon, Allin has another major personal achievement to his name. However, he has no firm plans for his next challenge outside wrestling.
Allin explained that neither adventure was a childhood ambition. Instead, he prefers to embrace opportunities as they come.
“Honestly, I don’t even know. It just comes to me naturally,” Allin said. “Like, I never grew up wanting to do Mount Everest. And I never grew up wanting to do a New York Marathon either. It kind of just falls into you. The world kind of just falls in, and I just go with the flow. That’s my whole life motto, is see where the wind takes me. And it’s taken me to a lot of extreme places.”
