Paul Walter Hauser has left MLW over creative differences, signing off with thanks for his colleagues and a warning to anyone who might question his contributions.
The Emmy-winning actor and wrestler announced his departure on Instagram, saying he walked away late last week.
“With a heavy heart, but a clear mind, I said goodbye to the MLW family late last week.”
Hauser said the decision was “simply rooted in creative differences”, without revealing the details behind the split.
His MLW opportunity came after Sami Callihan introduced him to Court Bauer, leading to an appearance at Battle Riot 6. Hauser credited his time there with improving his wrestling and teaching him about backstage production.
However, he was candid about his matches and what he felt he brought to the company.
“To be perfectly honest, I don’t think any of my best matches were in MLW, but I did the best I could with what I had at the time. Sometimes that was getting MLW writeups in the Wall Street Journal or having MLW clips featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Hauser also said he helped with catering, supported production staff and pitched MLW to contacts in Hollywood.
Despite the disagreement, he thanked Bauer and the crew, highlighting Minoru Suzuki, Tom Lawlor and Trevor Lee for helping him develop.
“Suzuki didn’t hafta do a spot with me, Tom Lawlor didn’t have to be that generous, Trevor Lee didn’t need to smarten me up. But they did.”
Hauser encouraged fans to keep watching MLW, but closed his farewell with a pointed message.
“If anyone cares to bad mouth me & or rewrite my contributions to MLW, I have receipts & I have friends in high places”
He did not accuse anyone at MLW of wrongdoing or confirm where he might wrestle next.
