Orange Cassidy has opened up about the worst injury of his wrestling career, recalling a knee to the face that left him with a broken orbital bone and a damaged sinus.
Speaking on The Rizzuto Show, the AEW star explained that blood had travelled down his throat and into his stomach without him realising, leaving him feeling sick.
“I broke my orbital bone and my sinus on my face,” he said. “It happened, and I broke my face, and when you rupture, the sinus, the blood goes down your throat and into your stomach. I didn’t know this.”
Cassidy recalled heading outside the small venue where he had been wrestling, where the extent of the injury became clear.
“So, I was very nauseous, and I went out back at the small little building we were wrestling at, and I leaned over, and my friend took a video of it, and it looked like, funny enough, around October, the exorcist, the blood was shooting.”
“It was just straight blood because all of it was just going down in my stomach and it came back. I got kneed in the face,” he shared.
Cassidy also said he had been knocked out during the incident, with blood everywhere.
That was not the only painful experience he discussed. The former AEW International Champion also recalled an unusual shoulder dislocation that required doctors to put him under while they moved it back into place.
“My shoulder got dislocated, but when you think of a dislocation, it goes out, right? My shoulder went into my body.”
“They had to knock me out and the two nurses had to wrap the sheets around like bedding sheets around my arm while the doctor held my body and they pulled it out. I think I was still out of it for, because they had to really knock me out,” he finished.
Back in AEW, Cassidy teamed with Jay White against The Death Riders on the 21 October episode of Dynamite. He is also scheduled to join Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong against The Cut on tonight’s Collision.
