Sheamus reportedly attracted interest from TNA ahead of Bound For Glory, with the company contacting the former WWE star about a possible appearance.
The Irish wrestler, whose real name is Stephen Farrelly, is now a free agent after reportedly having “rejected a restructured extension” from WWE earlier this year.
According to sources cited by False Finish, Sheamus was the main name TNA considered for Moose’s open challenge before Max Caster ultimately accepted.
Fightful confirmed that contact took place, while clarifying that the discussions did not come down to TNA choosing between the two wrestlers.
“TNA did reach out to Sheamus about possibly working TNA Bound For Glory, but it wasn’t a situation of ‘choosing’ Sheamus over Max Caster, Fightful has confirmed. As of two weeks ago, Sheamus had not committed to the booking. The rate between the two is vastly different.”
Sheamus’ next move remains unconfirmed. There is no official word on a potential AEW signing, although “some big veteran names within AEW” are reportedly pushing for the company to bring him in.
