Andy Williams, known to wrestling fans as The Butcher, is set to be remembered with a permanent tribute in the New York community where he grew up.
Plans have been announced for a statue of Williams sitting on a bench at Gratwick Riverside Park in North Tonawanda. Located along the Niagara River Greenway, the memorial will offer friends, family and fans a place to reflect on his life and his contributions to wrestling and music.
Jordan Buckley, a founding member of Every Time I Die, announced the project on September 28 with a heartfelt message:
“We’re building a statue of Andy!”
Supporters can help make the tribute personal by purchasing engraved bricks featuring their names or messages. These will form part of the pathway leading to the memorial bench.
Although Williams was born in Buffalo, he grew up in the North Tonawanda area, giving the location a special connection to his story. He first made his mark as a guitarist and founding member of Every Time I Die before building a wrestling career as The Butcher.
His distinctive presence earned him supporters in both worlds, many of whom will now have the opportunity to contribute to a lasting tribute.
The announcement followed a public celebration of Williams’ life in Buffalo on September 27. Family, friends and peers gathered for speeches, personal memories and musical performances. The event was also livestreamed so those unable to attend could join in remembering him.
Williams died earlier in September after suffering a medical emergency at an independent wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania.
The planned memorial will bring his legacy back to familiar surroundings, creating a place where the community and those he inspired can continue to remember him.
