Darby Allin approaches every AEW show like a pay-per-view, and he credits the locker room with pushing him to deliver every time he steps into the ring.

Speaking to Good Karma Wrestling, Allin explained how the standard of talent around him keeps him motivated. He recalled watching matches in Mexico before his own appearance and realising just how much he needed to bring to the show.

“It honestly feels like you gotta step up. There’s no room to have an off night. I remember watching the show before I went on in Mexico, and I was like, ‘Wow, these matches are insane. This is insane.’ I was like, ‘There’s no such thing as an off night.’”

For Allin, that responsibility extends beyond the fans. He also wants to earn the respect of the wrestlers watching backstage.

“Because if you take an off night, people are going to see through it. And most importantly, the guys in the back are going to see through it. They’re like, ‘Ah, here he is phoning it in.’ It’s like, ‘No, we don’t have time for that.’”

Allin described his opportunity in AEW as something he never wants to take for granted.

“AEW is the biggest blessing ever. So let’s treat it with the respect it deserves. That’s what we do every night.”

That outlook also explains why he rejects suggestions to save his biggest efforts for major events.

“So, everybody’s like, ‘You got to take it easy. You know, it’s Collision or it’s Dynamite. You got to take it easy. Wait for the pay-per-view.’ Like, no. Every week to me is a pay-per-view.”
