Brooke Hogan has spoken candidly about her complicated relationship with her father, Hulk Hogan, explaining how she could love him deeply while recognising the hurt within their family.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Brooke identified his involvement with her friend Christiane Plante as a turning point. Although she forgave him, she said their relationship never felt quite the same afterwards.

“A major turning point came after he slept with my friend Christiane [Plante]. I forgive people very easily, sometimes probably too easily, and I forgave him, but something between us changed afterward. I don’t think he ever related to me in quite the same way again.”

Brooke said Hulk and Linda Hogan’s divorce brought further upheaval, gradually changing a family bond she once believed could withstand anything. She also challenged the idea that the family’s problems could be explained by simply taking sides.

“Then the divorce happened [between Hulk and his wife Linda], and our entire family structure changed. Over time, things became increasingly complicated until eventually the relationship I had always believed could survive anything couldn’t survive what was happening around us anymore. That’s probably the biggest thing I wish people understood about the Hogan family: Public perception reduces families into heroes and villains. Real families aren’t that simple.”

Reflecting on life behind the public image, Brooke described a mixture of unresolved pain, family tensions and the pressures of fame. She explained that acknowledging those experiences did not erase her love for her father or the positive things her family had given her.

“There was also dysfunction, fear, resentment, enormous betrayal, money, fame, image management and decades of unresolved hurt all existing underneath the same roof. I can love my father profoundly and still tell the truth about where he hurt me. I can acknowledge the wonderful things my family gave me while also acknowledging that eventually the dynamic became something I could no longer live inside. Both things can be true.”
