Maya World’s AEW return remains uncertain, with reports offering different estimates of how long she could be away following a procedure.

World has not appeared on AEW television since September 9. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a belief she could be sidelined for “a couple of months.”

Fightful previously reported that the former TBS Champion had undergone a procedure, with a Friday update clarifying that it was unrelated to an in-ring injury.

However, Bryan Alvarez has suggested her absence could be shorter. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, he discussed a social media exchange between World and Britt Baker.

Baker wrote, “Get well soon if this is true, Maya World.”

World replied, “You and Perse just don’t want your back for ‘months.’”

Alvarez said World had undergone a procedure, while AEW’s storyline attributes her absence to an attack by Baker. He declined to share further details about the rumoured procedure, explaining that World wants that information kept private.

“So, if it’s what it’s rumored to be, then she could be back in a few weeks,” Alvarez said, adding that recovery could take “four to six weeks.”

That estimate remains conditional, and no return date has been confirmed.

World last wrestled at AEW Dynamite: Rebel Heart, teaming with Hyan and Thunder Rosa against Baker, Persephone and Hikaru Shida.

Her absence follows a successful stretch that included reaching the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart tournament final and winning the TBS Championship. World and Hyan signed with AEW in December 2025 following a last-minute appearance on Collision.
