El Grande Americano received a huge welcome as he returned to WWE Raw in Mexico City, fresh from winning the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania 34.

The new champion appeared during the September 14 episode after the opening segment set up an unexpected mixed tag team match.

Rey Mysterio had introduced Stephanie Vaquer for a title celebration, but Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan interrupted before the celebrations could get underway.

Following an exchange of words, Dominik proposed teaming with Morgan to face his father and Vaquer. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce ruled out Rey competing because of his storyline neck injury, then introduced El Grande Americano as Vaquer’s partner to a massive crowd reaction.

Americano and Vaquer faced Dominik and Morgan, but The Judgment Day prevented the champions from enjoying a clean finish. With Americano and Vaquer closing in on victory, the faction attacked them and caused a disqualification.

Although Americano and Vaquer were awarded the win, Dominik and Morgan stood tall following the interference.

The appearance marked Americano’s first Raw match since May 18. On that occasion, he teamed with Rayo and Bravo of Los Americanos to defeat Bruto Creedo, Julio Creedo and The Original El Grande Americano.
