La Catalina has captured the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, bringing Flammer’s record-breaking 1,127-day reign to an end at Triplemania 34 night two.

Sunday’s title clash turned in Catalina’s favour when Flammer looked towards the entrance ramp, expecting La Hiedra to arrive and help her. With no backup appearing, Catalina seized the opening, connecting with a hip attack and a running knee to secure the victory.

The result sets up Catalina’s first major challenge as champion, with Roxanne Perez waiting at Worlds Collide on September 26.

Perez earned her title opportunity during the opening night of Triplemania 34. Miscommunication between Flammer and La Hiedra proved costly in a four-way match, allowing Perez to pin Hiedra and become the number one contender.

For Catalina, the championship win marks a major milestone just months after joining AAA. She became the first wrestler to move from CMLL to AAA following WWE’s acquisition of the promotion, making her debut in April.

She later won a gauntlet match at Ola de Calor to book her place in the Triplemania title bout, and has now turned that opportunity into championship success.
