“Road Dogg” Brian James appeared to be heading for a creative role with TNA Wrestling earlier this year, but the expected deal never materialised.

Talk of James potentially joining TNA emerged in June 2026. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, there were strong indications that an agreement was coming, although the reason it failed to happen remains unclear.

Johnson shared the following update:

“All signs were they were going to sign a deal and then it didn’t happen. No one I have asked has ever explained why. He went from being at Slammiversary and speaking to talents about wanting to bring them in to he himself not coming in. It’s always possible they could revisit down the line, but I haven’t heard anything about it, at all, of late.”

While Johnson suggested the two sides could revisit the possibility in the future, he has heard nothing recently to indicate that discussions are moving forward.
