Britt Baker’s AEW return reportedly came together at the last minute, with new backstage details emerging about how the former AEW Women’s World Champion made her surprise comeback.
Baker returned during the AEW All In 2026 Buy-In at Wembley Stadium in London, marking her first appearance on AEW television since November 2024.
Her comeback ended an absence of almost two years and immediately sparked questions about how long AEW had been planning to bring her back.
According to Fightful Select, Baker’s name had been mentioned several times behind the scenes in connection with a possible AEW return.
Talks reportedly became much more serious following the announcement of the special “Rebel Heart” edition of Dynamite. However, AEW had apparently made previous attempts to bring Baker back before those discussions gained momentum.
Baker was reportedly open to making a return during her time away, but earlier plans never developed into anything concrete.
People close to Baker also claimed that she made the decision to take herself off the road in 2024. No specific reason was given for why she stepped away from AEW television.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is just how late her All In appearance was finalised.
Fightful Select reported:
“Britt Baker’s AEW return came together VERY late. Fightful Select has learned Baker didn’t travel to London with the AEW roster and, according to AEW sources, didn’t arrive until Sunday morning, arriving at Wembley after call time.”
That meant Baker was not even travelling alongside the rest of the AEW roster heading into one of the company’s biggest events of the year.
Despite the late arrangements, everything ultimately came together in time for Baker to make her return at Wembley and end her lengthy spell away from AEW programming.
Attention will now turn to what AEW has planned for Baker following her comeback and whether she will immediately return to the AEW women’s championship picture.
