WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry may be happily retired from the ring, but one of WWE’s current powerhouse stars has left him wondering what might have been.

Henry has revealed that Oba Femi is the one wrestler on WWE’s current roster who has made him think about how tempting another singles match could have been if he were younger and fully healthy.

Speaking with Sportskeeda, the former World Heavyweight Champion reflected on his decision to step away from wrestling and admitted that he previously considered making a return.

Henry’s full-time WWE in-ring career came to an end in 2017, although he went on to make occasional appearances. By 2019, he had even considered stepping back between the ropes to face then-NWA World Champion Nick Aldis.

“No, not at all. I thought about wrestling Nick Aldis when he was NWA Champion in 2019,” Henry said. “But I decided on not doing it. I retired. I retired. I feel like I had done everything there was to do.”

Ultimately, Henry decided his wrestling career had reached its natural conclusion. Injuries and the physical toll of his years in the business also played a major part in that decision.

“I got old and the last thing, I was already hurt. I had problems with my back, and my legs, and I just wanted to get away from being in the ring,” he explained.

However, Oba Femi has managed to spark something in The World’s Strongest Man.

Henry admitted that if he could turn back the clock by around a decade and return to full health, stepping into the ring with Femi would have been a challenge he would have welcomed.

“If I was at 100% healthy, maybe 10 years younger, hell I would have loved to come out of retirement and fight Oba Femi,” Henry said. “He’s the only one that’s kinda made me feel like ‘Oh man, that would be a challenge.’”

It is certainly easy to understand why the idea appeals to Henry. Femi has quickly established himself as one of WWE’s most imposing stars, combining incredible strength and athleticism with a commanding presence.

Henry has also spoken highly of Femi and his potential in the past, making the thought of a dream showdown between the two powerhouse wrestlers particularly interesting.

Fans will not be seeing Henry lace up his wrestling boots again, with the Hall of Famer making it clear that his retirement remains firmly in place.

Femi can still take quite the compliment from Henry’s comments, though. Out of WWE’s current generation of stars, he is the one man who has made The World’s Strongest Man wonder what one more battle might have looked like.

Femi will next have another major test when he faces Bron Breakker at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6.
