Kevin Owens Sparks Injury Concern After Being Helped Backstage At WWE Live Event

Kevin Owens has sparked fresh injury concerns after appearing to suffer a physical setback during a WWE live event on Sunday.

Video footage from WWE's house show in North Charleston, South Carolina, showed Owens noticeably limping before being helped backstage. At this stage, WWE has not confirmed the nature of the apparent injury or how serious it may be.

The timing will be particularly concerning for Owens, who only recently returned to WWE action following a neck injury that had previously left questions surrounding his future in professional wrestling.

Owens made his comeback at SummerSlam earlier this month and quickly found himself thrown into the WWE Championship picture alongside champion CM Punk, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Gunther.

Since returning, Owens has increasingly targeted Punk and the WWE Championship, eventually earning a title match against the champion.

However, the situation became complicated when Zayn interfered in the contest in an attempt to help Owens. Owens refused to accept his assistance, leading to an angry Zayn striking his longtime friend and leaving him vulnerable to Punk, who took advantage to secure the victory.

The tensions continued on Friday's SmackDown when Owens faced Balor and Gunther in a three-way number one contender's match.

Zayn once again became involved, running to ringside and breaking up a pin attempt from Balor. Punk then tried to enter the situation, only for Owens to confront the WWE Champion.

The chaos gave Zayn an opportunity to take possession of the WWE Championship before laying out those involved and ending the show standing tall with the title.

Owens now faces another potentially worrying situation just weeks after completing his comeback.

There is currently no official word on whether the apparent injury will force Owens to miss any WWE appearances or matches.
