Mercedes Mone Captures AEW Women’s World Title Despite Suffering Broken Nose At All In

Mercedes Mone walked out of Wembley Stadium as the new AEW Women’s World Champion, but her historic victory came at a painful price.

Mone defeated Willow Nightingale at All In to capture the championship, adding another major achievement to her career. However, during the post-show press conference, Mone revealed she suffered a broken nose very early in the match.

According to the new champion, the injury happened “right at the beginning” of the contest. Mone required stitches following the match and revealed she was still bleeding while speaking to the media.

There is currently no word on how long the injury could keep Mone away from in-ring competition or when she will receive clearance to wrestle again.

Despite the injury, Mone is expected to appear on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, where a championship celebration is planned following her Wembley triumph.

Reflecting on winning the title in front of the huge United Kingdom crowd, Mone described the Wembley experience as “absolutely everything.”

Mone was also informed that she had become the first woman to hold World Championships in AEW, CMLL and WWE.

She responded by saying she is “here to make history, here to change the game. (The title is) another accolade. Keep it going.”

The victory also completed a remarkable journey for Mone at Wembley Stadium. She was in the crowd for the 2023 edition of All In, several months before eventually joining AEW.

Looking back on that night, Mone said she already knew AEW was where she wanted to be and that she felt “at home.”

She added that there was no other place she wanted to be other than “here,” recalling the “love, passion and energy of that night. That night was incredible, so much magic.”

Mone was not the only competitor who entered or left the championship encounter carrying an injury. Nightingale reportedly went into the match with a broken hand.

The severity of Nightingale’s injury remains unclear, and there is currently no indication of how much time the former AEW Women’s World Champion could miss.

Mone now begins her reign as champion following a memorable and painful night at Wembley, while attention will turn to Wednesday’s Dynamite and what comes next for the new champion.
