R-Truth is not ready to give up on his partnership with Damian Priest just yet, and the unlikely duo now have another championship opportunity ahead of them.
On SmackDown, The War Raiders confronted Truth and Priest and mocked the pair before issuing a challenge for the AAA Tag Team Championships. The champions offered them a title match in Mexico City on September 11.
Priest initially appeared ready to bring his partnership with Truth to an end and began turning down the challenge. Truth, however, had other ideas. He interrupted Priest and accepted the match on behalf of both men.
Priest eventually agreed to go along with the plan, although he made one thing very clear. According to Priest, September 11 will be the final time he teams with R-Truth.
The two teams already have unfinished business after meeting in a title-for-title match on July 31. That contest ended in a no contest when the MFTs interfered.
The interference eventually led to a three-way match for the WWE Tag Team Championships, where the MFTs walked away with the titles.
Priest and Truth received another opportunity on last week's SmackDown when they challenged the MFTs for the WWE Tag Team Championships, but they were unable to capture the gold.
There was also an uncomfortable moment following the defeat. Priest stood over Truth and appeared to tease turning on his partner. Instead, he eventually helped Truth back to his feet and gave him a reassuring pat on the back.
Now they have one more chance together, this time with AAA gold on the line in Mexico City.
The confirmed match for WWE SmackDown on September 11 is:
Could championship gold convince Priest to keep the team together, or will September 11 really be the end of R-Truth and Damian Priest? Let us know what you think in the comments.
