Cody Rhodes has sent wrestling and Marvel fans into speculation mode after sharing a photo from inside Marvel Studios.

The WWE star posted the image to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, August 26, showing himself at Marvel Studios’ offices in Burbank, California.

Rhodes offered no explanation for the visit, leaving fans to wonder exactly what brought The American Nightmare through Marvel’s doors.

There is currently no confirmation that Rhodes has been cast in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project. It is also unclear whether the photo was taken this week or during an earlier visit.

That did not stop fans from fantasy casting the former Undisputed WWE Champion.

Several X-Men characters quickly entered the conversation, with fans suggesting Rhodes could potentially play Bastion or William Stryker.

Others threw names including Venom and Alex Summers, better known as Havok, into the mix. One particularly interesting suggestion had Rhodes appearing as a Captain America variant in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars.

For now, it is all fan speculation, but Rhodes has never hidden his interest in acting or comic book roles.

Rhodes previously revealed that he moved to Los Angeles partly because of his acting ambitions. He has also described Black Bolt as one of his favourite comic book characters and previously attempted to secure the role.

During an appearance on Logan Paul's Impaulsive podcast, Rhodes was asked which X-Men character he would like to portray. A longtime fan of the X-Men animated series, Rhodes responded positively when Cable was suggested.

Rhodes has also spoken about potentially following wrestling stars such as Dwayne Johnson, John Cena and Dave Bautista into Hollywood.

Whether his Marvel Studios appearance was simply a visit or something much bigger remains to be seen.
