According to Dave Meltzer, Dynamite averaged 587,000 viewers, representing a drop of almost 11 percent from the 658,000 viewers who tuned in the previous week.
It was AEW’s lowest viewership for Dynamite since the June 10 episode, which faced direct competition from Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
The news was also disappointing in the key demographic. Dynamite recorded a 0.10 rating among adults aged 18-49, its weakest performance in that category since June 24. Both the overall audience and demo rating came in considerably below AEW’s ten-week averages heading into the broadcast.
One factor working against the final figure was the unusually lengthy overrun. Wednesday’s Dynamite continued for approximately 34 minutes beyond its regular two-hour slot, which dragged down the overall average.
Meltzer noted that the first two hours of the broadcast averaged 617,000 viewers and a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Even without the overrun included, however, those figures would still have represented Dynamite’s lowest performance since the June 24 edition.
The decline comes despite AEW featuring two of its biggest names prominently throughout the episode.
Will Ospreay competed in a trios match to open the broadcast, while Kenny Omega was involved in another trios contest that closed the night. The pair were also featured together in a sit-down interview during the show.
Omega’s match did not begin until after 10 p.m. Eastern, with the overtime portion of Dynamite initially featuring an angle involving Darby Allin and Kevin Knight.
With All In approaching, AEW will now be hoping this week’s decline proves to be a temporary dip rather than the beginning of a wider ratings slide.
