Jim Ross is already setting his sights on a return to the commentary desk, with AEW All In at Wembley Stadium firmly in his plans as he continues recovering from brain surgery.
The WWE Hall of Famer underwent surgery earlier this month to address excess fluid on his brain. Despite only being days removed from the procedure, Ross has revealed that his recovery is progressing and he has established an ambitious target for his return.
Providing fans with an update on August 18, Ross said he had spent another full day undergoing rehabilitation and physical therapy as he moves closer to being able to return home.
“Full day of rehab and physical therapy as I’m one step closer to going home. Appreciate all your well wishes. Goal is to work Wembley Stadium at the end of August.”
Ross' target would see him return for AEW All In at Wembley Stadium on August 30, leaving the legendary commentator less than two weeks to continue his rehabilitation ahead of one of AEW's biggest events of the year.
The surgery was required to deal with fluid accumulating on Ross' brain. Prior to undergoing the procedure, JR explained that doctors planned to create an opening in his skull and insert a shunt, with tubing used to help drain the excess fluid.
Following the operation, Conrad Thompson shared that Ross' daughter had confirmed the procedure had been successful. Ross later provided his own update by sharing an image showing his shaved head, surgical scar and stitches following the operation.
While Ross has made Wembley his goal, there has been no confirmation that he has been medically cleared to return to work. His immediate focus remains on rehabilitation and physical therapy as he continues taking steps toward leaving medical care and returning home.
However, the 74-year-old clearly isn't short on motivation. With AEW returning to Wembley Stadium at the end of August, Good Ol' JR hopes his next major milestone will see him back behind the microphone in London.
