Chelsea Green is reportedly set to remain WWE Women’s Champion while she recovers from the orbital injury she suffered earlier this month.
Green was in action on the August 7, 2026 edition of WWE SmackDown, teaming with Tiffany Stratton against WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. Green and Stratton came up short in the match, with Green later revealing that she had suffered a broken orbital bone.
The injury immediately raised questions over the status of Green’s championship and whether WWE might be forced to make a change while she is sidelined.
However, the latest word suggests Green will remain champion throughout her recovery.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, Green is expected to be out of in-ring competition for several weeks. Despite that, WWE currently has no plans to strip her of the title or take her off television.
Green is also reportedly expected to appear on the August 14 episode of SmackDown, indicating WWE intends to keep her involved in ongoing storylines even though she is temporarily unable to wrestle.
Another factor working in Green’s favour appears to be the reaction to her championship success at SummerSlam. The report noted that WWE officials were particularly pleased with the level of social media engagement generated by Green capturing the title at the event.
Provided her recovery remains on schedule, WWE appears prepared to keep the championship around Green’s waist while finding ways to feature her on television until she receives clearance to return to action.
WWE remains optimistic about Chelsea Green's injury status.
