Andrade’s injury scare may not keep him away from AEW for very long.

Despite revealing a nasty head wound following AEW Grand Slam Mexico, Andrade is reportedly expected back next week as his developing rivalry with MJF continues.

According to Fightful Select, Andrade was already scheduled to have this week off. As things currently stand, the former WWE star is expected to return to AEW television next week and pick up where he left off with MJF.

That is a much more encouraging update after Andrade sparked concern on August 9 by sharing a graphic photo of medical staff treating a bloody wound on his head.

Andrade explained that he had been feeling unwell since Grand Slam Mexico but still travelled to Canada to fulfil two MLP bookings before returning home to Miami and immediately seeking medical attention.

“Hi everyone and especially Las Señoritas! I’ve just landed back in Miami, where I live, and I went straight to the DR. I hadn’t been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam, but as a professional, I had two shows in Canada with MLP.”

The injury came at a particularly important moment for Andrade.

At Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, he defeated Tommaso Ciampa and Komander in a three-way match to earn the coveted No. 1 entry position in the Casino Gauntlet at All In London.

His celebration did not last long.

MJF stormed the scene after the match and attacked Andrade with his custom AEW World Championship and Dynamite Diamond Ring. He then sent Andrade crashing from the entrance ramp into Komander, leaving medical personnel to check on him afterwards.

With Andrade later revealing his injury, there were understandable questions over whether AEW would need to put the storyline on hold.

For now, that does not appear to be the case.

Andrade’s absence this week was reportedly planned in advance, and his expected return next week suggests AEW intends to keep the MJF feud moving towards All In London.

The injury photo certainly looked alarming, but the latest word is far more positive for Andrade and his AEW plans.
