Chelsea Green Reveals WWE Career Low After SummerSlam Triumph

Chelsea Green is riding high as the Interim WWE Women's Champion, but she has revealed that the journey to this moment included one of the toughest experiences of her wrestling career.

Speaking with Complex Graps after her SummerSlam victory, Green reflected on the emotional dedication she made to Michael Hayes during WWE's post show. She also addressed the impact of Hayes' remarks in the Netflix series WWE Unreal, admitting that hearing them confirmed fears she had long carried about her place within the company.

Green looked back on several painful setbacks that tested her resilience over the years.

"Where should we start? How many times have I been like, 'Oh, we're going. We're going. Never mind.' I had my NXT debut, and I broke my arm on live television. Thank gosh it was a live dark match, I think. Then I broke my arm live on SmackDown, and I was supposed to go to Survivor Series. That felt pretty low. Then I got fired. That felt low.

"I guess a low moment was watching Unreal and seeing what Michael Hayes said and having it confirm what I thought, which is that I am here to elevate the other girls. I am here to get them from the midcard to the top-girl spot, and that may be the place I stay forever," Green said.

Although those comments left a lasting impression, the situation eventually came full circle when Hayes later personally apologized to Green.

Chelsea Green Praises WWE Locker Room Support
Green also spoke emotionally about the overwhelming support she received from her fellow WWE stars following her championship victory at SummerSlam 2026.

One moment that stood out was Tiffany Stratton saluting her after the match, something Green was thrilled cameras managed to capture.

"Tiffany [Stratton] standing there saluting me is a moment that I'm just so glad someone caught. I'm so glad that there was a camera that caught that. It was so sweet. When I went into the back, and everyone was hugging me, I just felt so loved. I felt so incredibly loved. The best thing in the world is to feel loved and respected by the people that you love and respect in this business," Green shared.

After years of injuries, setbacks, and uncertainty, Green's SummerSlam triumph has become one of the defining moments of her career, made even more meaningful by the support she received from those around her.
