IWF Winter Warfare Weekend Live Events This Saturday & Sunday:
10th Year Begins January 20-21 @ IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- A historic milestone is upon us as the Independent Wrestling Federation begins its 10th year of producing live events. In a few short days, the IWF rings in the new year with Winter Warfare Weekend this Saturday, January 20, 7:30 pm and Sunday, January 21, 4:00 pm at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ. Here's a preview:

Day one January 20 is highlighted by a double main event as Commissioner Rich Ross hosts a $5,000 Bounty Battle Royal featuring The Masked BoneCrusher and all the IWF stars. After Ross was controversially re-elected to office in November, he unceremoniously banned his nemesis Fred Sampson for life. Sampson's protege from IWF Wrestling School, Masked BoneCrusher, arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. Ross has been hell-bent on revealing the identity of the mysterious man. In this every man for himself brawl, if Masked BoneCrusher loses or is unmasked, he is also banned for life. However, if he wins, Sampson can return to IWF action.

The second main event is an IWF Heavyweight Title Match as former American Champion Justin Corino challenges IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta. Corino, who battled Torres to a double count-out in the semifinals of December's Tournament of Champions, gets his rematch for the top prize in the IWF. Can Justin capture the gold on behalf of the United States, or will Torres keep the gold within the grasp of Latin Revolution?

In a rematch from December's Tournament of Champions Final, Kevin Knight tangles with the 2006 Tournament Champion Travis Blake with Rich Ross. The bad blood between these rivals has escalated even further after Blake assisted fellow Ross Family associate Franciz in seriously injuring former IWF Champion Shawn Donavan on the Eruption Webcast.

The IWF Tag Team Titles are on the line as champions Burnin' Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho with Jana, defend against Outlaw Shane O'Brien and Aaron Stride with Rich Ross. After Stride suffered an embarrassing loss to Jana on the Eruption Webcast, Ross raised the stakes to the maximum to ensure his men secured a rematch for the gold. If Durnin and Camacho win, SOB and Stride get their heads shaved. If SOB and Stride win, they win the titles and Jana becomes their personal valet for 60 days.

In a rematch for the IWF American Title, champion Chris Steeler meets the 340-pound mastodon Franciz. Franciz, in unlawful possession of the title belt that he stole in November, issued a challenge to Steeler on the Eruption Webcast. Steeler, back in action after being injured by Franciz, accepted the invitation from the mastodon as he looks to regain possession of the belt that is rightfully his. There is also $5,000 at stake in the Franciz BodySlam Challenge offered to anyone who can lift the unstoppable force off his feet.

The IWF Junior Heavyweight Title is up for grabs as former three-time Junior Champion Dangerous Dan McGuire looks to regain the title for a record fourth time from current champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta. Rivera, who won the belt last month in the first round of the Tournament of Champions, looks to extend his reign.

In a tag team encounter January 20, the rookie duo of Rey Calitri and Daniel Schwartz has accepted the challenge from Tommy Trouble and Frank Scoleri.

Day two this Sunday, January 21 features tag team warfare as Justin Corino and Dan McGuire unite to battle Tony Torres and Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta. Based on the outcome of their singles title matches from the previous evening, Corino and McGuire could enter this contest as the Heavyweight and Junior Champions respectively.

In a return grudge match from November's Thanksgiving Thunder, Kevin Knight collides with Franciz of The Ross Family. The corrupt commish has announced he will appoint a special guest referee to maintain order in this heated rematch. Franciz could very well be the American Champion should he claim the title the previous evening.

Chris Steeler tangles with rival Travis Blake with Rich Ross. It was at Thanksgiving Thunder when Steeler won the American Title from Blake, and now Travis is out for revenge. If Chris retains the gold on Saturday, the belt will be up for grabs in this bout

In tag team action, Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho with Jana face Tommy Trouble and Frank Scoleri; while the rookie duo of Rey Calitri and Dan Marques look to make their mark against Shane O'Brien and Aaron Stride with Rich Ross. Based on the outcome of the Tag Team Title Match from the previous evening, which of these bouts will be for the titles?

Rich Ross, already banking on the fact that The Masked BoneCrusher will lose the $5,000 Bounty Battle Royal and be unmasked the previous evening, has already planned a Farewell Ceremony.

Also appearing January 21 are debuting IWF Wrestling School students Nick Gregory and Jason Roberts, and referee Barry Delaney.

Winter Warfare Weekend contribution is $10 per event general admission, and Sunday is only half-price at $5 with Saturday ticket stub. Tickets are available at the door 30-minutes before bell-time. For information, visit www.WrestlingIWF.com. Cards subject to change. If either event is postponed due to snow, the event will be rescheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 7:30 pm.

Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling News: January 18, 2007

Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling News: January 18, 2007

This past Sunday night, Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling presented its first live event spectacular and television taping of the 2007 calendar year, and as has been the case in CAPW over the past several months, this event was not short of controversy, chaos, and a series of ongoing questions, mysteries, and rumors.

CAPW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE DEFENDED AMIDST TOTAL ANARCHY

Ever since â€"The Wild Eyed Southern Boy” Tracy Smothers pinned Claudio Castagnoli for the CAPW Heavyweight Title last month, Tracy has been a target of the 6’7” 300+ pound Jason Bane, who many say would’ve won the title that night had it not been for the craftiness of the veteran Smothers. Perhaps knowing that he could not defeat the monstrous Bane one-on-one, Tracy enlisted several re-enforcements for this match.

Despite the absence of Smothers’ newfound advisor Krystal Frost, who was said to be out of town scouting even MORE potential talent to bring into her stable, Smothers’ corner was well-represented in the form of JT Lightning, a long-time Smothers ally. In addition, Smothers brought with him one of the most legendary, timeless, and certainly one of the toughest men in wrestling’s past, present, or future, and the man WWE Magazine has recognized as the world’s oldest active wrestler: the maniacal 73-year-old Gypsy Joe who, despite his age, threatened and went after just about everyone in the entire building, Bane included. The big man Bane had persevered through countless amounts of interference en route to nailing Smothers with the Baneline and pinning Tracy to re-capture the CAPW Title and re-unify it with the CAPW TV Title…or so we had thought. Referee Bobby Potter spotted the CAPW Title in the ring after the fall, a title that was actually brought into the ring by Smothers and Gypsy Joe. The official had no choice but to assume Bane had used the title while the referee’s attention was diverted. Regrettably, the referee decided to reverse the decision, and Tracy Smothers somehow squeaks by, still champion.

Bane, obviously cheated by the 3-on-1 nature of the situation, had a remedy. Next month, when CAPW returns to Turner’s Hall on February 11 at our 3 p.m. belltime, there’s going to be a tag team match, a 3-on-2 handicapped match to be specific, as CAPW Champion Tracy Smothers joins forces with JT Lightning and the timeless Gypsy Joe to face CAPW Television Champion Jason Bane and his tag partner…WWE Hall of Famer Greg â€Å"The Hammer” Valentine! It’s going to be one of the most unique spectacles we’ve seen in CAPW in a long time as five of the meanest, rudest, toughest, and most ticked off brawlers share the same ring at the same time with well over 100 years experience between the five of them!

TAG TITLE CONTENDERSHIP IN MAJOR TURMOIL

We had thought placing Q&A (Virus & Unknown) and The Irish Airborne (Jake & Dave Crist) in a 2 out of 3 falls match with each other would determine a clear and decisive number one contender for the CAPW Tag Team Titles. With CAPW Tag Champions Christian Faith & Vincent Nothing, Faith in Nothing, sitting ringside providing guest commentary, both teams fought tooth and nail to prove supremacy. Irish Airborne won the first fall, however Q&A, using an uncharacteristic pull of the tights, evened things up in the second fall. It was the third fall that degenerated into chaos, as both teams spilled to the outside, and the third fall was ruled a double-countout. What will CAPW management do to resolve this? Who, if anyone, are the rightful #1 contenders to the tag titles? Who, if anyone, will challenge Faith in Nothing on February 11? We’ll be investigating this story over the next several weeks, and hope to have updates for you in the near future.

GOWEN SCORES A MAJOR WIN

â€Å"The One-Legged Wonder” Zach Gowen scored perhaps his most important win in CAPW to date this past Sunday with a one-on-one victory over Josh Prohibition. As we all know, Prohibition has been the single biggest thorn in the side of Gowen throughout Zach’s pursuit of the CAPW Junior Heavyweight Title. Josh’s alliance with Jr. Champion Johnny Gargano has kept both Gargano and Prohibition at an unfair 2-on-1 advantage against rivals such as Gowen and M-Dogg 20. With Gowen finally overcoming the biggest roadblock that Gargano had strategically placed between himself and Gowen, one must assume it’s only a matter of time before Gowen is granted a one-on-one match-up for the Junior Heavyweight Title. While when or if that takes place is not currently confirmed by CAPWmanagement, we can tell you that over the past couple of weeks, CAPW management have been looking over the names of several potential contenders for Gargano’s title, men from both inside as well as outside CAPW. While the Tenacious One may not be the very next in line for Gargano, it has to be believed that Zach has earned his chance at the gold and will be back in Cleveland to attempt to claim it in the very near future.
