Roderick Strong has requested his release from WWE.

Fightful Select reveals the NXT 2.0 star has asked WWE management "multiple times" over the last several months to allow him to depart but they have not granted his request. 

The report reveals that an NXT source noted that a name change was pitched for Strong and he opposed the idea. WWE has recently been changing ring names for a number of NXT talent so as not to include real names or those used on the independent wrestling scene.

WWE reportedly has creative plans for Strong and has no immediate plans to release him.
