The title change went down during the NJPW Sakura Genesis event on Sunday morning. Ospreay defeated Kota Ibushi for the title after winning this year’s New Japan Cup, defeating Shingo Takagi in the finals.
New Japan Pro Wrestling recently unified the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships.
