In a recent interviewĀ withĀ TalkSport.com, MattĀ Jackson of The Young Bucks discussed why he and his brother Nick decided to work with Tony Khan and AEW over WWE:
"Even then, though, I was so protective of our brand because we had done so much at that point and weād just done the All In show. So it was still scary to just hand over the keys to someone else and that was probably the biggest reason we didnāt go to WWE at the time because it was like āwhat are they going to do with this?ā We were almost over-protective of what weĀ created. So yeah,Ā meetingĀ this new guy, Tony, was like this guy seems great, but again, weāre justĀ meetingĀ him for theĀ firstĀ time and heās sayingĀ all the rightĀ things, but thereās still a trepidation. Because weād been doing this for so long and had struggled for so long andĀ finallyĀ weāre finding this success, is now the time toĀ finallyĀ hand it over to someone?"
"But he didnāt want to do that, he wanted us to keep being ourselves because thatās what brought us to the dance. When we heard that, it was reassuring to us. Heās a wrestling fan and to this day, he probably loves wrestling more than anyone Iāve ever met. And heĀ knowsĀ more about wrestling than anyone Iāve ever met. It didnāt happen overnight, it took a lot of conversation, speaking to him every day andĀ meetingĀ his dad ā which we talk about in the book as well ā and realising one, I think this is real and two, I think this is someone Iām comfortable working with on anĀ everydayĀ basis."
