As longtime fans may recall, The Great Muta previously held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in the early part of 1993, as he defeated fellow Japanese legend Masahiro Chono for the Ten Pounds of Gold at the NJPW/WCW co-promotional show called Fantastic Story in Tokyo Dome.
In addition to the NWA World Title, Muta has also held the NJPW IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and the AJPW Triple Crown World Heavyweight Championship.
